I like to ask you some questions regarding dental subsidy.
I am currently seeking treatment plan - braces + Jaw surgery
My lower jaw is protruding which causes often accidental bite on my tongue and problem with pronouncing certain words clearly.
Hence, I have to remove all my wisdom tooth before the operation can be carry on in 1 year or more.
I know it is possible to remove wisdom tooth with full subsidy.
My orthodontist surgeon told me that the current NS provide subsidy for jaw surgery too with the referral of the Dental M.O.
Is this true and for my case is it possible to get the referral from the M.O?
Need advice from reservist M.O or people with related knowledge!
Thanks!
Note: You will be classified as a subsidised patient if your first visit is via:
Yup I am referred through Polyclinic & NUH. However, from what I know there is no subsidize for the surgery part except braces.
I'm askin about if there is a full subsidised treatment fee when referred by SAF for my case.
In general, all medical and dental treatments are 100% fully subsidized (FREE) at public hospitals, except those treatments/ surgeries classified as cosmetic.

* ITEMS NON-SUBSIDISABLE UNDER SAF MEDICAL BENEFITS SCHEMES
The following items are not subsidised under the SAF Medical Benefit Schemes. Personnel who incur expenses for these items at approved medical institutions are required to pay upfront for the incurred expenses. Reimbursement will not be allowed.
LIST OF NON-CLAIMABLE ITEMS
*The above list is subject to changes from time to time and is not exhaustive.
Braces are consider as cosmetic purpose, therefore, I dont think it will be subsidize.
However, extracting of wisdom tooth all these will be free of charge.
