Hi. I'm enlisting on the 30 Oct 2012.
BMTC School 2, Pulau Tekong.
My dream is to make the cut for OCS and be selected.
Computer Assessment Test at CMPB, I did my best already.
I'm a polytechnic diploma holder.
Good GPA, if I so humbly say so. Place reserved at NTU.
I might disrupt my NS for NTU, subject to terms and conditions.
NAPFA Gold.
Mild colour blindness.
Do you think I can go OCS?
Nothing is for sure, only for sure is to sign on...

DISRUPTION
FOR TERTIARY STUDIES FOR FULL-TIME NATIONAL
SERVICEMEN (NSFs)
MINDEF provides sufficient opportunities for NS-liable males to
attain up to
first education bar qualifications before enlistment, subject to
the deferment
cut-off age criteria*. A first education bar is defined as GCE 'A'
level, Polytechnic
diploma and equivalent qualifications. Disruption will hence be
restricted only
for full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) to pursue a higher level
educational
qualification, such as an advanced diploma, associate degree or
degree course.
Only courses conducted by the educational institutions which confer
their own
qualifications are allowed. For example, a NSF will not be allowed
disruption
to pursue a foreign degree course conducted by the Singapore
Institute of
Management (SIM) since the qualification is not conferred by
SIM.
Disruption is only considered on the basis of equity to allow
those from the
same school cohort but enlisted in the later intake, to proceed for
further studies
at the same university at the same time as those enlisted in the
earlier intake.
Disruption will not be granted to NSFs who are enlisted ahead of
their age
cohort with equivalent qualifications as the basis of disruption is
to maintain
cohort equity.
Disrupted NSFs are required to serve their remaining full-time NS
in
one continuous period immediately upon completion of studies.
NSFs must submit their applications for disruption, together with
documentary
proof, through their unit Manpower Officer to MINDEF/SAF HRSC for
approval
three months prior to their date of disruption. Late or incomplete
application
may be rejected.
Minimum Service Period
The earliest date that NSFs can disrupt is on the 1st of the month
that they
complete the minimum service period stipulated in the table below,
or one week
before the start of the official course term for local studies (two
weeks before
the start of the official course term for overseas studies),
whichever is later.
Approval will not be granted for NSFs to be disrupted for
orientation or other
pre-matriculation activities.

Computer thingy at BMTC i did the best I could. I'm a dipolma holder with good GPA I would say. Going to NTU. Got Gold for my Napfa.
However after browsing thru the forum for some time i realise the intake to ocs would be a problem for me. so I would like to ask if I could still make it to ocs?
oh btw, do i need to extend my service if i go ocs? think i saw it some where?
Do note that i will need to disrupt my Ns for Uni. oh and I have mild colour blindness.
Hi AnswerMeSuccess,
Agree with tarutaru, nothing is for sure. A good GPA and an university placement does not make you a confirmed candidate for OCS. The selection criteria for OCS has a lot more factors than you think. But generally if you are a true good leader, you will be able to display and perform well in most of the activities and get a relatively good result.
Every Leadership batch in Tekong will have intake for OCS. You won't have the need to extend service if you follow your own intake cycle, ie, you don't OOC and join the next course or whatsoever.
Disrupting for uni and mild colour blindness won't affect your selection for OCS in Tekong one.
Regards.
After completing their BMT, a selected few
servicemen who have performed well and are assessed to possess
leadership qualitites will be sent to either Officer Cadet School (OCS)
or Specialist Cadet School (SCS) to be trained as commanders, while the majority will proceed on with their vocational training courses to specialise in their respective vocations.
