I have been hearing much about two of the myths/ hearsays/ rumours from other full-time NS boys:
1. If you ORD as a recruit, you may go for BMT recourse for your very 1st ICT reservist.
2. If you ORD as a recruit, you may not be called back for reservist.
Please verify these myths.
If they have the whole 2 years to make you do BMT, why would they make you ICT in reservist? Nevertheless I have heard this so often I would like an answer too.
Non-combat people (some of whom went for combat BMT) revocated to combat at ORD, I heard they go thru a course too.
haha... simple-minded NSFs are so easy to bluff...
hear someone else thinks/ says this and that, they are so gullible to believe myths already.

1. If you ORD as a recruit, you will be going for BMT when you are called back for reservice.
2. If you ORD as a recruit, you will not be called back for reservice.
How true is both of these myths? What i am actually thinking is, if you ORD as a recruit, you will reservice as whatever vocation you are in and just be call as "Recruit ABC" when a higher ranker calls you.
For 1, they no longer/ ceased to do a modified BMT recourse anymore.
For 2, it depends on your vocation.
Regardless of your rank/ PES, if you are in those "lobo" vocation, you may/ may not be called back for reservist. The NS unit, which you are assigned to as a NSman, may put you under their temporary reserve/ holding list. While some people might get reposted if their PES met the cut-off minimum PES requirement for vocations that lack manpower in the NS reservist units, others with some other reasons or so who can't be sorted out/ can't fit into available vocation/ manpower establishment quota may also not be called back. You will be surprised to know that for some "lost soldiers", they go for their very 1st ICT in their 30s/ 40s.

So there is no internal requirement for every NSman to serve x number of ICT? Can serve zero?
Or is there a requirement, hence some soldiers 1st ICTs in their 30s and 40s?

These lost soldiers are most probably recalled back from the Reserve Holding List (RHL).
So is there a requirement for ICTs or they can let you ROD without serving at all?

There is no such thing as going back for BMT during reservist ICT. Those who are combat fir (PES A/B) who did not complete BMT after ORD, will remain as RECRUIT rank during reservist time. Their Service Certificate will also indicate the rank of RECRUIT.
Very contradictory regulation for KPI(Key Performance Indicator):-
PES C to E personnel who do not need to pass ippt / soc, will usually automatically promote to CPL rank before ORD.
But PES A/B personel have a KPI, i.e. to pass IPPT to attain rank of full CPL. Another KPI for PES A/B personel is of course to complete BMT, otherwise the rank will remain as RECRUIT.

there is a chao keng storeman at my side who always keng medical problems when he get called back for BMT. he is gonna ORD soon but as a recruit. that's why i am kinda wondering if this storeman of my unit will be called back for his BMT during his reservist period
Firstly I think recourse has not been practiced since NS became 2 years.
If fail 1st BMT but combat fit, post to unit. RT every single weekend until pass IPPT and SOC.

No. Whether you pass or fail BMT, once out of BMT and in unit you are a Private from day one. Whether you recourse or not you can move to LCP.
$50 difference in pay. Big deal. I rather be REC to ORD and proudly show off.
