  One day a week is MOPP day. You spend the whole day and do everything in MOPP.

  Actually nowadays camp food and facilities quite good lah. But personally I felt whether you stayed near or not is more important than these. You can spend hrs on transport if you stayed far away. If u stayed out, you may even need to wake up at 5+ to take the 1st bus/mrt. Provided the MRT don't break down.
