if you have blisters at your heels, most likely your shoes is too loose.
Your helmet is too tight or not supporting your head.
More commonly people have blisters at the groin area. Wearing tights or the tight like underwear (lycra type might help).
I'm not sure about your helmet model. The older ones were lighter than mine and I used my cousin's helmet throughout my service. Some of the regulars had even lighter ones.
Adjust the head band so there is air flow and it does not shift around. Get fancy eBay helmet suspension but do NOT get the foam pads. Very hot.
Blisters- I'd rather have them than have my feet swelter in tight boots. I had loose boots.
helmet: adjust so that it is not too tight, chinstrap a little loose so that u wont have the choking feeling
Boots: thighten your laces and try to season your leather boots so that they become much softer, get the right boot size
ilbv: adjust the shoulder velcros and waist velcros so that it fits snuggly, and is still comfortable when u take a deep breath. ilbv that are too lose can give u abrasions
field pack: adjust the stuff in it so that the weight is balanced. adjust the backstraps to lift the field pack a little higher / at shoulder levels
rifle:adjust rifle sling to comfortable length so that u dont have to physically support the rifle, just place your finger at the trigger guard can liao
From what i can gather, BMT dosnt allow any Non -saf items like what ever padding or suppension or other helmets
Who checks what's in your helmet :p
i used the old steel pot helmet with plastic inner liner.never had head problems.are the newer kevlar helmets heavier???????!!!!!!
worse mistake was when i put powder in my foot because someone said it was good for me.it turned my shoe into a giant sandpaper rubbing on my feet at d end of 24 route march
Helmet fit: it should not move about even without the chin strap. if it does, chances it's sitting too high. if you can't fix it, maybe it's just head shape.
look online how to do this.
Is all in your mind, route march is testing on your endurance.
Physically you can be well equipped, but mentally must be strong.
I flung twice during my Ranger course back than, and both time were during endless march.
What's endless march? March with full battle order (old version, much heavier), until the idiot instruction feel shiok and told you to stop.
How long me and some of my comrade endure? you won't want to know. First attempt, left 5 gone through, 2nd attempt, only 2...
Both time, me had to ring the bell due to total numbness on both my shoulders.
Those are my younger days, keep up your spirit, young man..
Headache - your helmet does not fit properly. Loosen the strap a bit.
Blisters - wear thin water-resistant socks under your green SAF socks. This transfers friction to your inner socks instead of your feet.
Also, apply thick waterproof plasters on areas of your foot that are susceptible to blistering.
On an added note, if you have abrasions at the groin/thigh area, apply Vaseline to your groin and wear bicycle tights.
You might also want to apply plasters over your nipples. Seriously.
