Hello,
What's up with glasses/contact lens in BMT/NS/OCS?
My eyesight is about 4.00 each eye - I wear contacts everyday.
Can I still do the same during BMT/NS/OCS?
I was watching the Guards series on cyberpioneertv on Youtube and it seems so many of them wear the same plastic black framed glasses..
I find wearing contacts much easier and better - but do they rush you out of bed in mornings leaving you no time to put in your contact lens?
And do you ever spend more than a day outside during BMT/NS/OCS where there isn't clean water to safely take out/put in contact lens? Cos I don't wanna leave my contacts in for too long and get an eye ulcer..
Thanks! :)
the question you ask, is super obvious you know nthg of life in army, regardless in bmt, ocs or whatever.
Firstly they do not rush you out of bed, you can always buy a alarm clock and wake up much earlier to do whatever yoiu want, but trust me, most likely 90% wont as the tireness you dont want to wake up.
If by time someone call you, you will have ard 15min to wash up and change.
as in army, you will obviously under the sun and rain frequently and clean water is always ard for drinking. but to wash your hand clean enough to handle contact lens, i doubt it, and putting aside overseas training, my record in staying in the field during local training is 12 days and 11 nights. so basically i doubt having contact lens is suitable.
Believe me, many had tried wearing contact lens in army.. many had given up.. unless you are down graded and posted to some air-con environment....
Thanks for the quick reply!
Yes, the only thing I know about the army is from films.
So would they let you know if you'll be away from the barracks for 1 day or 2 days?
Or do they just yank you away?
I imagine 95% of the time during BMT/NS, you will be training around the field everyday and sleeping in the barracks each night? And only some special days you get to go out for a few days in a row without coming back.. is that right?
(I'm thinking about just wearing contacts everyday when we're doing exercises around the camp/sleeping in the barracks the same night. Then wearing my glasses if we go out for a few days in a row.)
Let me know.. Thanks :)
