Hi all(:
I'm a female (currently poly year 2) planning to sign on as an Army Intelligence Officer.
I have some questions here and thus hope someone can advise me especially females who are currently in service.
1) What is the job scoope that I can expect for this vocation?
2) Will I be training with the guys as well or is it an all girl's platoon during BMT & OCS?
3) How long is the training period?
3) I am rather short in height (148 cm) so will this hinder any chance of me applying for it?
Any females regulars who are willing to share their stories pls do PM me as well!
Thank You(:
Thanks eac!
I have studied the links before already. As it was written back in 2008, I need a more recent ones as some things may have changed.
Hello this Singapore leh, u think this is the US CIA?
Why don't join the DSTA or Singapore Technology?
Nothing much but I can tell u this is the highly secretive vocation, I guess they will screen through u for security clearance. They might even do some investigation about u and your family members.
Nothing can escape from their finger tips. Exemple If u or your family members have a bad record in the police data base, the mindef will take them into consideration or may screen u out.
TS, do you intend to pursue uni?
if you do, go for uni first. Poly dip won't get you far once you signed on.
Yeah this is true, without a degree u can't go far.
But its so cool for a girl to sign on with the army
So far i am not considering for a degree. How about Specs? I heard Diploma graduates who signed on as Specs can go further than Officer. Only worried about my height haha xD

in this case, "go further" here means sergeants/ warrant officers retired at max 55, officers at max 50.
However, i do have the plan to take up part-time courses in the future.
To me, passion is the most important thing, as I see no point even if my rank is high, i don't enjoy what i am doing. Hence I won't mind if i don't have a high rank but i am doing something that i enjoys.
Yes I agree. Passion will motivate and keep you going for a long time :) I think taking up courses here and there is good for you. If that is what you want and confident of achieving, then go for it! :)
Do female intelligent officers need to go through BMT?

Some guy was saying that intelligence unit better than arm forces for girls-"civilian job for uniformed pay" in his words.
But since both have to go thru BMT, and the former pays better. What's the difference?
The BMT is 2 weeks or 2 mths?
What is the difference in job scopes for Intel Officer, Intel Spec & Intel Expert?
if you're signing on under service (specialist), it'll be 2 weeks of BMT. if not, it'll be 9 weeks.
So meaning intel officer = 2 wks BMT + 9 mth OCS, intel spec = 2 wks BMT + SCS?
Oh god no. Dont do it.
You has no Degree. You wanna Become LTC (long term captain)?
The Wayang and polictics will fucking kill you and whatever passion you has in the first place.
You will thank me for this son.

Passion is the first casualty. Anyway even officers with a degree are 2nd class compared to scholars.
Scholars have their whole promotion path mapped out. Reserved seating anyone?
sign on for a secure future.
just do it

To be fair, I have met regulars who are worth every penny of our teaxpayers money.

They still go through 9 weeks of BMT cos they are considered under combat.
Hi TS,
How are your grades? Do you have a high chance of making it to university?
If you do, go for a degree first. The pay difference and the career pathway for degree holders is very different from a A lvl, diploma holder.
As a poly grad, it is not 100% certain that you can end up on the officer track. You may suay suay kena the specialist track, where the pay is much lower than that of the officer scheme.
Also, your education level also plays an important role in determining your pay. the difference in starting pay between a dip and a degree could be over $1000 or more, and this gap widens progressively as you go through the ranks.
