Chiong only... do it for the memories.. think bout it, 2 years very short..
They do look at your records, esp the rank. The higher, the better.
It is either you are a hero or zero.
Hero: an officer so that you can wack people.
Zero: a redundant people so that others can forgot about you. Probably dont even bother to call you up for reservist.
Whether you wan to chiong is up to u. You can choose watching TV or being wet and dirty in swamp at night. Sleeping on your own bed at home or Sleeping in the rocky floor, feeding mosquitoes.
Private/government companies will look at your NS Record for related work experiences. Actually being a driver, clerk, mechanic, PTI... helps more than being an officer, cdo, ndu or guards.
It is important to declare all your medic status properly. There is no point getting a broken leg and cannot walk forever.
Anyway it is not your choices to choose in the first place.
I am a paramedic in NS, slack only.
i wonder if theres contraband hentai comics....
in my days there was these supplied by some dastardly tall guy who grins and smiles whenever and wherever he goes.

Whatever rank and experience you have in the SAF is zero value in the private sector.
NS is just a complete waste of time. You be taught "stand by bed", "pack and unpack full bag", "run up and down to change into your uniform", a lot of stupid staffs...
In private sector. they look at what certs you have and how experience you are.

It's up to you.
My best advice would be chiong in BMT to get 3SG or 2LT, once you get them, slack off. Take it easy, your good record is already there.
If you are an enlistee, they will try to bluff you with "Corporal First Class" which is worth some recognition and given to 1 in 50 CPLs with outstanding performance. Obviously hard to get if you are in a combat unit with a few hundred men, much easier to get if you are a clerk and your boss likes you. Don't bother with this pursuit.
Chioing becuase you like to, not for the sake of a job. Employers look for other talents. I would have liked to chiong in the jungle, but did not get the chance after BMT. Weighing the pros and cons, not much regret there.
