ima gentleman and a soldier.never used a single bad word here.but alan...uses four letter words n thinks he rules the army as god the almighty or something.
i suppose he had lost his marbles somehwer in ns....sun blame him..he wasnt much of a soldier from the start,..,,this is the result.pity him.

as a ord man myself , i would recommend u go thru bmt first before saying u wanna go command school , i seen a lot of ppl who keep saying they want to go command school before enlisting , and when they enlist , they cry in tekong , can't take it , and i dun think its a good idea to go command school , be a man is more better. being a spec or officer got a lot of responsibility , espicially being a spec , u will stuck between your officer and man.

It's good to dream but just made sure there's a backup plan if he does not get in? I mean not even to scs.

I guess those two who are enlisting are just wanting to try for it lar. Let them try lor. During first day of enlistment all recruits will want to go to OCS, but one week into BMT some don't want to go anymore. after field camp more will say don't want...But there was some who stick through all the way and they deserve a place there lar.
But 9 months of OCS is a diff story
During the nine months, you will know who are the one who deserve to be there, who are those who don't. Sad to say, there are some who OOC not because they did badly, but medical reason lar. Got one guy in my ocs batch was super super good (SOH or SOM kind) but due to injury, have to OOC, not sure if he recourse. 
Oh well, ORD for 5 years liao, don't care liao lar.
Anyway Hitman bro, don't say alan til so bad lar. I read the trend liao, he not that despo to get to command school lar. But he is rude lar. But this is between both of you lar. Take it else where k :) No offences bro.Chill,

Ultimately no matter where you are or will be lar. It's just two years, every vocation has got it's purpose. Just do it well :) Those who want command school just so that you will look good or you can pull rank and for power to control people...I am sorry, SCS or OCS is not for you. Go else where.
I have seen enough lousy or jack ass commanders in my batch (Yes, even those who commissioned with me) -

Anyway,I do agree to an extent with tarutaru.Enlistees,especially those with A'lvl cert (like me..) think that somehow we are meant for command school because of our so-called 'higher' educational qualification & therefore,so-called 'higher' intellect & sophistication.It's pretty arrogant to think that way,if you ask me.I used to have that sort of mentality too.But realized that if command school is full of such aloof & stuck-up people,well,let's just say every actual war these people lead would be a losing one...
I don't know if other JC peeps feel the same though.I mean,a lot of times undeserving people get into command school mostly because of them hailing from an elite JC & having done well in the A's.I'm not saying these people don't have to pass their SIT & IPPT tests,etc.Just that somehow I feel they can put in half the effort as the rest & get away with it cause of their so-called 'higher' intellect.Correct me if I'm wrong here...

There are some truth to what you say at the last part, good results is not everything. I did not do well enough for my poly (Not good enough to go local uni ) I still ended up in OCS.( I am not trying to be proud lar. Just telling you what I been through) How you perform daily during BMT will matter alot and not forgetting, SOC, IPPT, peer appraiser, commander recommandation.
Well, let's just put it straight, be yourself, help your buddy and peers when you can and be helped when you need. Take care and look out for eachother, don't be rude, do well for IPPT, during SIT test stay focus (Know what you want and don't do solo. Getting information from everyone and put the ideas together and assign the task to each if you are incharge)
But ultimately, if you don't get to command school. Just be happy that you did your best. It's the experiences and friendship you made that you will remember. It's not the end of the world if no command school. :)
Don't need to care about what others do( If those want to suck up, let them, just care about what you do.)
All in all, let's just say I was blessed with a great buddy who helped me through BMT and great sections that's why I ended up in OCS and commissioned later on. :)

Having a higher rank in the army is most likely to land u a better job then those taking lower rank - i say most likely, no haters pls.
And going through leadership course makes u a better man in the real world.
