Pre-Enlist: SAF/ SPF/ SCDF. Random Posting? How They Choose?

Hi, I have yet to enlist, and I want to know how they decide where to send a person for NS, whether, SAF, SPF or SCDF. What are the differences between the people that gets them posted to the different forces?
