Is it true that nowadays, Singapore National Sports players or athletes are allocated switch-off vocations/appointments while serving National Service? In this way they won't get injured and can concentrate on training to represent Singapore. Every day eat, sleep, enjoy and train in their particular sport to represent Singapore. Anybody knows?
Vote Tan Jee Say for no white horse treatment.
Quote "Alize: Yes, they don’t wear uniforms and their NS = their training."
1)Do they do BMT?
2)Do they have any ranks?
3)Do they need to go back for Reservist?
4)What would be their service vocation as stated in Certificate of Service upon ORD?

It is possible for the very unfit to serve NSF as a civilian, so this probably applies to them. There is no point putting someone through BMT or reservist, if they have no military utility.
Patrick Tan said he “completed his junior OCS term before disrupting to study” and then served NSF as a scientist. I wonder what his rank would have been, if he even remained in uniform.
Patrck is a 1 chocolate bar guy. If he get a MD-PhD, he should really do MOCC and be a CPT instead. Quite a waste to get a higher pay.
Anyway in medical field, the doctors go by seniority and cert. He would be consider as high rank in the medical field.
Corrections for Alize & Lokey:
According to what was quoted, he was just a 3SG.
Please take note.
OCS Junior Term = CPL
It was mentioned that he completed his reservist liability with rank of 3SG.
BTW, a medical scientist is not a medical practitioner, and so is not entitled to MO appointment. To be an MO you must have served and passed 2 year provisional registration with SMC (S'pore Medical Council), after graduating from medical school.

Oh then what a waste he should have undergo the housemen.
Still havent got most of the answers yet. Can more people contribute to the questions?

National athletes like rugby players, waterpolo players, etc
What do they do in NS? Are they given preferential treatment like wearing civilian, 9-5 job hanging around, lobo around, loaf around, etc, etc ??

Yes to the first three, and they get the usual vocations, in addition to training and representing SAFSA. Quite a number are not PES A or B though due to injury history.
Can these athletes be pes A & B and still be allowed to book in and out evey day in civilian attire?

It's your vocation and not your PES that determines whether you can book out or not. And once you're out of the BMT/trainee stage you can book in and out in civilian attire.
Why would they put athletes through BMT and risk injury?
I don't think equality is a big concern to them.
Singapore government does not actually support the national athletes. So they will go through the normal BMT and be posted like any other boys.
For example, the national waterpolo team, the boys actually volunteered for the training after work. The team is only formed during competition times. They will collect the names and registered.
For Martial Arts such as muay thai, TKD, wushu, a selection is held near the SEA games. The uncles will decide who shall go.
For Bodybuilding, winner of the national championship will ultimately respresent Singapore.
There is no official national team for soccer, volleyball or whatever. They are actually "volunteers".
However, a lot of people know how to keng, especially when you are sportsmen. Frequent injuries are common. They will usually end up as clerk, in SAFSA and always training.
