cbt medic is a stay in course, but not route march
Whtz up. Iv just finished my Combat Medic Spec course n here r some of the things I would like to share. Before I go into that, you should know that in SMTI (Singapore Medical Training Institute) in Nee Soon Camp does have:
1. Medical Officer Cadet Course (MOCC)- 13 weeks course. Pass out as MO and posting depending on intakes of the Medical Centre and the Unit. If your lucky, possibility of posting to CMPB.
2. EMT SPEC (Emergency Medical Technican Specialist)- 12 weeks. Pass out as 3rd Sergeants and posting is also depending on intakes.
Units- Company Medic
Medical Centre- Dispensary I/Cs or 2I/C, depending on MO or Senior Medic's instructions
Instructors- Stay back in SMTI(Nee Soon Camp) to guide the nxt badge of EMTs
3. EMT MAN- 12 weeks. Pass out as Lance Corporal and posting depending on intakes.
Units- Platoon Medic
Medical Centre- Any positions avaliable. depending on MO or Senior Medic's instructions.
Instructors- Stay back in SMTI(Nee Soon Camp) to guide the nxt badge of EMTs
1) What is the general route of a Combat Medic? As in after the 12 weeks course, I understand that we will be posted to other units. But are there specific examples to the job scopes after posting? Or will it depend on the unit; i.e. if I'm posted back to Tekong I'll be expected to also stay in the medical center and help the staff
I do know that medical centre is flexible as it works only 7.30-5pm weekdays, unless you were to have medical covers late till 2359(i.e Live Firing).
Another bummer is if you are the duty medics of the day. They are to stay in 24 hrs in the medical centre until the nxt day when the nxt duty medic takes over.
2) Will there be route marches/IOC/etc? How is it like compared to BMT training?
NONE. Unless you are to go to Brunei, then you are to join in the route marches. Very relax compared to BMT training.
3) Is it stay-in for the whole of the 12 weeks, with only bookout on Friday nights and book-in on Sunday nights? What about after the 12 weeks course?
STAY-IN and yes. book out friday evenings and book in sunday night. This is because they are still under training, so they will have to obey the training directive. After the 12 weeks course
4) What is the training like. Is it just lectures + practicals or is there also PT, and if so, what kind? And what is the admin time like?
Yes. Lectures+ practicals. Morning PT every morning (Mon, Wed, Fri) 4km run.
Admin time is after 6pm. Very shiok. 11.30am-1.30pm. Lagi BEST, can sleep
5) Bunk and living facilities. Are they the same as BMT in tekong?
Single bed. Nothing much. The facilities are very old compared to tekong.
I hope they don't go to Brunei just to do route marches, sounds like a waste of money if so.

Haha I just graduated from an obese coy. Double decker bed for me, which I thought was a bad idea because we're obese. At least now it's single bed. And are those who go Brunei people who are NSF or signons?Speaking of which, do we still use 16G needles for our practices?
Thanks very much!
Cbt medic of course you need your LBV, 16G is for infusion ......
ME3 Selvaraj should be your OC. You are P008 batch.
Well medic course is quite slack but a lot of reading and "studying" needs to be done. Do well and you might get a good posting. Slack too much and ME4 Lim will post you to a far away camp from your home.
Some get MMI, meaning medical ctr job. Some get pltn medic and you need to chiong. The P007 batch just passed out last fri, they got the chance to join MRF.
Your buddy poke you, you poke your buddy back.
At the very least you do guard duty while on training in SMTI, after passing out, no more guard duty but medic duties.
Seek, Save, Serve!
P002 old bird here
2 weeks to ORD!!!
