Types of Basic Military
Training
PES A/B1
BMT
This 9-week programme trains combat-fit recruits in the basic
military skills to prepare them for advanced vocational training.
The programme includes weapon training with the SAR 21 rifle which
will teach recruits technical handling and marksmanship skills; a
Battle Inoculation Course that simulates a real battlefield; a
Field Camp which develops basic survival skills; progressive
training to complete a 24-km route march which builds combat
fitness and endurance; and hand grenade training.
For those who fail to achieve the
NAPFA test silver award, they are required to undergo an 8-week
Physical Training Phase (PTP) prior to the PES A/B1
BMT.
PES BP
BMT
As evidence has shown that obese recruits are able to achieve
optimum fitness levels and weight loss in about 19 weeks, the new
BMT programme for recruits with Body Mass Index (BMI) scores
exceeding 27.0 will be 19 weeks. This BMT programme is designed to
help obese recruits improve their physical fitness progressively
while equipping them with basic soldiering skills and
knowledge.
PES B2
BMT
Enlistees who were PES C1 previously underwent a 7-week BMT
programme. The new 9-week PES B2 BMT programme will be conducted
for recruits who are medically fit for deployment in selected
combat and combat support vocations, such as signal operators,
combat medics and naval system operators. These recruits will be
given a new medical classification of PES B2, in place of the
existing PES C1 classification. This is to ensure that the medical
classification of our soldiers is consistent with their deployment.
The new 9-week programme will include customised physical training,
as well as basic combat training to prepare them for their combat
and combat support roles.
PES C
BMT
The 9-week BMT programme will be conducted for PES C recruits. This
programme will include light physical training and vocational
training to prepare them for combat service support vocations, such
as service medic, and those related to logistics and
administration.
PES E
BMT
The 4-week BMT programme will be conducted for PES E recruits. This
programme will focus on, vocational training as well as National
Education, SAF core values, regimentation and discipline to prepare
recruits for combat service support vocations.
Post-BMT Training
After completing their BMT,
servicemen who have performed well and are assessed to possess
leadership qualitites will be sent to either Officer Cadet School (OCS)
or Specialist Cadet School (SCS) to be trained as commanders.

think a typical day depends on which phase you are in...
for my vocational training phase is somethg like this..
book-in sunday nite : 9pm
Monday, Wed & friday :
0530 : wake up
0545 : breakfast
0700 : standby area
0800 : move out for field training
0100 : RTU and weapon cleaning
0230 : lights out
tuesday, friday :
1000 : study
1200 : lunch
1330 : study
1600 : edurance run or SOC
1800 : dinner
0730: study or night practice
saturday :
basically edurance run or SOC or combat run or IPPT training and tekan session then book out ard 1500-1700...
but this schedule is 17 weeks of vocational training yr 2 is much better.. is either field training, attach to excercise or some sort of physical training or just relac.... but we choose to attached excercise more stay in camp chances tio arrow is much higher
Thanks for the input, NSmen!
But I don't understand something.
0800 - Move out for outfield training (cheong sua)
0100 - Return To Unit (RTU) and weapon cleaning.
What? It doesn't make sense leh...
Lunch and dinner, how? Not in cookhouse meh? Ta-bao meal packet/ field food ration?
Night time, how? Not rest/ relax time in bunk meh?
By the way, the "studying" are theory lectures for note-taking in a training shed, right?

sorry what doesnt make sense..
lunch, dinner all out field where CQ will bring you your meal, or draw combat ration and eat that...
rest/relax in bunck... Maybe i quote what my S3 say during our BMT... once enlisted, 24/7 of your time belongs to the army... any personal time is a privilege and not an entitlement... In peace time time, you can expect 4 hrs of sleep but in operational (means field excecise etc) you should get an accumulated rest of 2hrs.. these 2 hrs can help you manintain alertness to complete the mission...
So frankly dont expect relac time espcially trainee phase.. will have but not frequent... my record during my operational phase local training.. was outfield for 11days... overseas have worst....

Hi all,
I'm a poly graduate, and I went for my medical checkup Nov 2012 at CMPB.
I was given PES D and I only received my PES Status B1L1 on March 18 2013.
I did not pass my NAPFA test, so must serve 24 months instead of 22 months...
How to be enlisted in the BMT June intake batch ASAP?
Up next is the September intake batch?
How do CMPB determine your Enlist date by PES and graduation date batches?
I just called CMPB already just now, but the clerk just told me to wait.
The only way is to should I keep calling CMPB everyday to pester the customer service officer to please put me in the next earliest BMT slot?

I am a Malaysian and plan to work in Singapore after I graduate in Malaysia. Can I serve NS? I want to. I heard only second generation permanent resident are required to serve NS. Please advice! Thanks!
Non-Citizens
Second Generation Permanent Residents are required to go through compulsory full-time national service as well as reservist duties after they have completed their full-time national service and turns operationally-ready.
After completing full-time national service, they are eligible to apply for Singapore citizenship. However, citizenship is not guaranteed for all applicants, as there are certain criteria that must be met such as educational qualifications and income qualifications. From 2006 to 2010, about 2% of 3,000 Second Generation Permanent Residents who completed full-time national service and applied for Singapore citizenship were rejected.
If the person does not hold Singapore citizenship but still holds Singapore permanent residency, he is still required to serve the service requirement, i.e. reservist duties after he turns operationally-ready.
Singapore Permanent Residents who served national service but did not acquire Singapore citizenship will be treated equally to those permanent residents without service obligation; they would not have access to the privileges granted to Singapore citizens.

Yeah! Thanks! I hope I'm not too late to join. I'm 22 this year already.

Here on an island off the coast of Changi, the journey from a
civilian to soldier begins, the symbolic rite of passage from Boys
to Men. Recruits take a Ferry into Pulau Tekong and are enlisted
directly to their respective companies, where they will spend the
next few months training beside their fellow comrades and
commanders .
It is a tough, but rewarding journey, recruits not only learn
military skills, but life skills in the process that will benefit
them many years ahead.
Basic Military Training (BMT) marks the beginning of military life
for all Singaporean males at the age of 18. It is the transition
from fresh-faced teenager to combat soldier.
They learn basic soldiering skills, which include weapon handling,
individual field craft, etc to enhance their survivability in the
battlefield.
Besides the training in basic military skills, Physical Training
(PT) lessons are also conducted to build up the soldiers' physique
and stamina, to instill a firm sense of discipline and teamwork
amongst the soldiers.
