I could put any name I like. By the way I am reservist.
In your given example, it could be either "A K Tan", "John Tan", or simply "John". I've never seen any name tag in the "A K J Tan" format.
By default it will be A K Tan but you can put J A K Tan or John A K Tan or John Tan. If you intend to put John, you must have a good reason, eg. your surname is super long aka Pavlyuchenko or s/o Subramanianman. Sometimes if the name is too common like John, they will ask you to put John T. (T as in Tan)
Sometimes, those ang mor people will just put their surname, eg Obama.
See your CSM/RSM anal or not lor.
TAN A K or JOHN TAN
i saw one guy with the name Elmo.
Don't forget for people with long names eg Indians, there is a smaller font for them.
Anyway alot of chinese with just their ang mor name. The most anal CSM won't ask you to spend $ and buy new name tag. scared complain abuse soldiers. Trust me they will find other things to tekan you.
I heard its best to put a name that is harder to pronounce... chance of getting called to do things lower... true?
Simple names easy to remember, first name they think of.. =)
