Hi guys,
i enlisted 6 mths ago as c2l3 due to severely underweight. i went to MO to report my back pain as i have pain once i exerted my back.went for MRI , specialist said i have minor slip disc.
the mri report says that i have mild decreased L3/4 T2 disc signal reflecting early disc degeneration.
went to the MO with the mri report and he say not much a problem and went ahead to up my pes even that i still have severely underweight and minor slip disc,
I am worried that if i go back to combat vocation i will injured my back again.
is there anything i can do???
it seems really not much of a problem here.
when underweight, eat more, exercise more, get fit, strength training, muscle training.
when low back pain, avoid carrying any heavy loads and objects, and strengthen your body core muscles by simple and very low intensity slow exercises such as some yoga/ pilates movements.
if people ask you to carry heavy things, simply refuse to do so and show them in the face the medical report, MRI report and any specialist memo, and say to them that if you get injuried, who is going to take full responsibility since you had already sound out beforehand?

The problem is did MO give threadstarter excuse heavy weight permanent?
nope the mo did not. thats why, i am sure once i go into combat vocation i am surely haf to lift weights. i did lift weight myself to carry a box of A4 paper, and my back will start to hurt.
thats why i am worried my back problem will get more serious if i really up pes and go for combat position
Since the MO has already explained to you, then it's ok.
The Medical Board has to read your medical case statement before making a decision.
Underweight is a standard PES B (by comparsion, obesity is a PES Bp).
Minor slipped disc is within PES B2 to C range, depending on severity and specialist memo.
So it's fairly acceptable.
If you don't think it's fair, then please get a strongly worded specialist memo.

Only way is to get a strongly worded, detailed memo with excuse heavy weight permanently.
Go find a specialist and seek his advice on this issue.
I recommend you find a private specialist, faster this way.
alright i will go find the specialist. i really do not want my back to get anymore serious. even a sneeze i will feel sharp pain on my back. thanks alot guys

Yes,no point getting injured during NS.
severely underweight is not much of an issue.
underweight will qualifies for b1, and severely will qualify for b2..
as for slip discs, not sure, usually range between b1 to c9, depending on severity.

I seen PES E ppl with slipped disc.
i know with minor slip disc, the chances of getting it more serious is very high for me if exposed to combat position and lifting of weights lol. now i everyday walk also ache liao. i dun want it get serious. but all depends on the specialist haiz

It should be such that if anything happens, the MO and the military should be held accountable and be sued to the fullest extend.
