Hi forum , new comer here .
I have several questions regarding Napfa Test. I have read several posts regarding the stated topic but i still have several doubts.
Written below , it mentions that i need to take my napfa 2 weeks before enlistment date. What does the enlistment date mean ? Im a poly DASE student graduating this year and from what i heard, i need to attain a silver for my napfa by the end of feb ? Does it mean enlisting date is around 2nd week of march ?
Im afraid i don't have enough time to get a silver for my napfa.
Reaching goal of 2.4km but pull-ups are my weakness.
Again, the question is, napfa 'deadline' = feb ?
Hope the forums can enlighten me on this issue :)

Are you physically fit? If you have been found to be operationally
fit i.e. PES A,
B or BP, you may want to take the NAPFA
test.
Should you attain at least the NAPFA Gold or Silver
award, you will attend a 9-week Basic Military Training
(BMT) and enjoy a
2-month reduction in your full-time National
Service. Those who fail to attain the required
fitness level will have to undergo a 4-week Physical Training Phase
(PTP) before attending the 9-week BMT.
The NAPFA test is conducted at the Toa Payoh Stadium every
Wednesday (except public holidays). You are required to book an
appointment for the test via the NAPFA test
booking system prior to the test
date and you are only allowed to make one valid booking at any one
time.
Please note that the NAPFA result
is valid for 1 year from the date of test. You are advised to report for the test in acceptable
attire and punctually. All the six test items
must be completed in one single sessions. A maximum of 2 to 5
minutes rest period is permitted between any two tests (for the
first test items); a 15 to 30 minutes rest period is permitted
before the sixth test item.
From 1st Oct
06, NS-liable
pre-enlistees (i.e. those graded as PES A, B at the pre-enlistment
medical screening at CMPB) are required to book the date for their
NAPFA test via the NAPFA Test Booking System on NS Portal, before
reporting to Toa Payoh Stadium on Wednesdays for their test.
Do note that pre-enlistees who do not book their NAPFA date via the
system would not be allowed to take their test at the Toa Payoh
Stadium.
1. Can I take the test after I failed the NAPFA
test the last time?
Yes. You are allowed
to retake it until you pass. There is no limit to the number of
times you can take the test.
2. When is the last date I should take the NAPFA
test?
You should attempt the
test as soon as you are ready and you are advised to take it at
least 2 weeks before the date of enlistment.
3. Can I retake only the test items I have failed in my
last attempt?
No. All 6 items must
be completed in one single session.
4. Can I amend my booking after I have booked?
Yes, you are allowed
to amend your booking before 12 pm on the day before the test
date.
5. Can I make a few booking together?
No, you are only
allowed to make 1 booking at any one time. You can make your next
booking after the test date you have booked.
u can choose not to do ur napfa as it isnt really compulsory.. except that if you don't do it, or fail to get a silver, you'll be enlisted in the Physical Training Phase (PTP) batch, where the first few weeks is mainly focused on physical training to get your fitness up to a satisfactory level.
as for enlistment date, you'll know it when you receive your letter. usually ur enlistment date is 2 months after receiving the letter, but it may vary.
Whatever it is, just enjoy your physical training at your own comfortable pace. You ought not to over stress on yourself towards obtaining a medal for napfa. Let your pace work for you
Alright , i do wanna attain a silver altho 2.4 is killing me. Im sure i can do well in other stations.
I still gotta noe when's my deadline for napfa but still , thanks guys :)
EDIT : Ive heard of disadvantages of not being able to attain napfa such as lower rank / harder to be promoted. Is this true ?

I think if you miss your napfa, can take at toa payoh stadium also? Not sure about that though but you can call cmpb to double check.
They will send you an enlistment letter, eg enlist 24 july 2011. The latest you can take your ippt is 2 weeks before 24 July 2011.
