I just got mine and i noticed some features as "promised" in their 2008 press release is no longer on the No.4...
1) "Slits" that are supposed to hold the elbow and knee guards in positions are no longer in the latest issue.
2) Specialist Ranks are now also on the chest.
3) additional flare/pen slots on the wrists
Anybody know why the changes?
--------------
But its sure more comfy and lighter no wonder Army allows T-shirt in No-4 now.
Maybe because it is too expensive to produce the ones with the slots for knee and elbow guards. I am currently issued with the ones with out the slots.
Its the same with the LBVs. Units issued with LBVs for trial were given better quality ones for testing. When it become standard issue, the quality was terrible, even my issued SBO is more sturdier than the standard LBV. No idea about the new vest, i assume it go the same way like the previous LBV.
according to the old press release, they wanted to put officer ranks on the chest, spec ranks on the sleeves, warrant ranks on the collar.
if they actually did that, i would be laughing away when all the officers get picked off bu snipers one by one.
they also brought back the old leather boots, seldom see gore-tex boots now.
another new [yet rare] mod: velcros in place of buttons on the shirt.. pants too. but only a select group of ppl have it though.
some of these "mods" may just be beach road purchases.
dun understand y they want to put the ranks in the between the chest in the first place..nothing's wrong with the old placement of ranks, makes it easy to identify...target practice for the unknown, unseen, unidentified 'enemy'?

nope... till now the pixelised uniform isnt sold outside as yet from what we know.. unless the contractor really got extra stocks to let go.
anw the mod that i mentioned is a customization initiative, not available thru emart much less beach road.
Must be a CSS or service mod, the guy might as well be wearing No 3. Otherwise dirt would start sticking to the velcro and he wouldn't be able to keep his shirt closed.

Can get in emart lah.
i know emart got.. even outside camp emarts [those in chevrons/SAFRA] have it and i saw, but just only 1 thing, do beach road market sell them?
alize, no. 3 isnt worn for ops [for the same reason as standard no. 4 as those who had velcro are dealing with aviation, u can say its comabt support (providing data), not really CSS]. anw dirt wont affect the velcro [not much dirt to begin with in the 1st place], but rather high temperatures would, i.e, when a hot iron is placed on the velcro.

Probably for those wearing the new vest with plates on, just like the Americans. Its the same design.
mass market produced items always have their quality compromised to save costs...
cheaper, faster, better...
