I wonder is it wrong not to stay at home when you're in MC. Currently still serving NS. My MC is long term 3 months.
What happens if i want to go out? I can't be a prisoner in my own house can i?
I don't understand my camp. My doctor advises me to go out and get involved actively and mingle with my friends.
Can someone advise?
8th Core Values: Do anything but don't get caught.
9th Core Values: Caught already must talk your way out.
Haha.
Sure you can go out. But do not be 'caught' laughing and generaly enjoying yourself. Go somewhere quiet for self reflection, enjoy the scenary at the lakes, like mandai lake, Chinese garden, etc.
If you need to meet with friends, go chit-chat. Make sure it is only one friend, not a group. Again do not be seen laughing and joking.
Because long term MC means you are depressed, and so act so. Depression could be all types, the bi-polars get 'high' at certain times of the day, usually in the evening. But the public do not understand. And you get yourself misunderstood, you could be deemed as a malingerer. Then it becomes difficult for you to explain your behaviour.

Always have an excuse before going out.
Try to go out during lunch/dinner time, so that you can say you are eating.
Also find out if your PC/PS are those very on ones, who always call you up just to check if you are home or not. If they are, then it is unlikely you can go out.
Not trying to teach you the wrong things, but being locked at home for 3 months is not a fun thing.

in certain places, the boss [usually the OC or his deputies/ICs] does the call up... but since the doctor 'encourages' the fellow to go out, it's fine. just dont do anything crazy and so on.
rmb got 1 time 1 of my fren on long term mc due to operation, then his OC call him [routine check] say: cannot go out la.. not i say one is the directive say one. then he told the OC that bo bian, his kids want go zoo.. end up panjang abit lor
I'm already posted to a unit. What they do is conduct random house visit. However i was home for every house visit. I find it quiet annoying. How can they expect me to be home everyday? I feel like i'm under house arrest.
Sometimes i feel like going church, go to the park, go to the top of a high building and just look down or look up in the sky and get some food.
1 Day, they conducted a house visit when i was returning from lunch then they told me i've to be home can't go out at all under any circumstances. Why is this?
From that day onwards I've been home and i'm going crazy.
Should i ask my doctor to write an official memo to them that he advises me to go out and change the way i live.
What happens if i go out and they conduct a house visit? Will they charge me?
Retail therapy to help in recovering from your depression.
Just what the Doctor ordered.
u'll have to explain the reasons why..
house visits arent really necessary unless the case calls for it which in this case not very necessary... and usually is who visit u? immediate officer [WO]?

laughter is the best medicine and he cannot be seen laughing? That's laughable lol
I think you can go out - but for these 2 reasons - Eat, See Doctor.
No shopping, dining at restaurants, exercising at the park.
Other than that, you are supposed to stay at home. Any time your officer pops by and you are not at home, you can get prepared to have your ORD date extended plus 4 walls lodging at Kranji.
.
Get your friends to come to your house lor.

Okay, just to be clear, we are talking about a doctor from outside and not a MO here right?
A doctor memo will not have any "power" if your MO does not accept it and write another one for you.
And yes, they will likely charge you if you do not have a good reason to be missing from home.
last time my unit.. for one men even go IMH.. then got long long MC .... but next weekend we found him in zouk.... we also lan lan...
Will your officer do spot check on weekends?
If not, go out and enjoy yourself the whole day on weekends and on weekdays, other than going out to eat just stay at home
@Forbiddensinner: It's the Doctor from IMH.
@dechang: It's not my officer who visits me. It's the NSFs under this officer. It's really annoying. My friend told me for house visit they should bring a basket of fruits or flowers but they didn't. I find it that the officer is trying to find a fault in me. They did a total of 5 house visits and i was at home.
The thing is i don't want to be staying at home all the time. It's really pressuring me.

Weekdays are the worst when i'm alone at home mostly. My friends and siblings go school and my parents go work. I just don't like the feeling of being locked up at home. Whenever i try to climb 1 step up, i drop 2 steps.
For Weekdays when your camp colleagues are in camp:
Things to Do @ Home:
Cook / Bake/ Eat
Computer games on PC / PS3 / XBox/ Wii
Static exercises like dumb bells, push ups, sit ups, crunches, leg raises, ranger jumps, star jumps...etc
Multiple short runs up and down at your HDB flights of stairs
Things to Do @ Outside:
Quick meals at coffeeshop like a regular office worker's 1 hour lunch break
Sometimes, just da bao takeaway and bring back home to consume
Just go downstairs at your void deck's sitting area to read books, newspapers...etc to breathe some fresh air.
Short walk around in the immediate neighbourhood zone.
For weekends: Heck care, since all your camp colleagues also have their lives to live as well. You too, also can go out... Considered the weekends as weekend leave /off days.

This isn't helping your condition.
You should seek advice from the doctor.
To play safe, when you feel like going out, give your camp a call.
House visit just to ensure you are safe, i guess. As depression sometimes can "xiang bu kai".

You tell those NSF guys under that 2LT officer that there is no food left in the house. If you don't go out to buy some food to eat, then you will starve to death at home. Unless you tell the guys to tell the officer to ask him to buy food for you as and when you call him whenever you are hungry and then free delivery to your house like a personal driver. Then that officer will not bother you anymore...
If it is justifiable as a necessity to go out on a short while to do essential things such as buying a takeaway from a coffeeshop or rush to attend to an emergency outside, Mindef will not take any action against you. This is the exception rule of it. It can be found in the official Mindef GOM directives guidelines.
The NSF guys are just scaring you. Use mouths anyhow utter to say, anyone also can.
Anything, just ask them to show you officially this exception rule in the GOM directives.

You can get a memo from the doctor at IMH, and then go back to camp to get endorsement from MO.
This way, your commander will not be able to touch you anymore. I was thinking that you seek out some private specialist~~those specs are usually not "powerful" enough for your MO to accept their memo.

Good suggestion to the TS.
Weekdays if he got nothing to do can come sgforum to talk kok too

If everybody claim to be depress, get long MC, and still get to enjoy life, who will want to serve? They do NS, you do NS, they have to endure training, you have to endure…. staying at home.
Do the house visits have a pattern, like only in the day, never at night?
So far only in the day... :/
Thanks for the advises. There was a email for me saying that i'm being referred to the Medical Board. :s What is that? What will the medical board do?
