ok right now i'm in a sir unit (4/5/6). Standard rifleman infantry man.
i want to sign on, so i calle the army cruitment centre. Then they say; you should talk to your s1, to your dys1. He will give you the form. What a load of nonsense. Then you give me a number for fck?
Anyway he say if you sign on, yes, with your qualifications (a level) you should go specialist course. No, you don't have to wait until you finish your rifleman ORD to go, they will trasnfer you once the paperwork is done.
What happens if you sign on and break the bond 6 months later, assuming you return every lump sum cent? I heard 2 days regular = 1 day ns, so that would mean I have to serve 3 months extra?
Also, the sign on regular status starts the moment I sign the contract, or the moment I go speicalist course?

I remember once you sign on during your NS, they will back-pay you. You are considered a regular, waiting for a course. Then they will send you to specialist course by default.
You may not be posted to the same unit doing the same thing after that. It could be combat eng, armor ...
But it is clear that it is not profitable to break the bond. Whether it is to serve extra time or pay back.
since got back pay, 5 yr MTE still applies to TS, since it was counted from Day 1 (enlistment date) onwards
So must serve 5 years minimum even if you break the bond inbetween?
Not profitable; means must pay back extra on top of everything they've given you (backpay + signonbonus?)
Hello, anyone can advise??
You are now an infantry rifleman Pte or CPL?
You probably send you for Infantry specialist course.
Btw, as an 'A' level holder why do you wanna sign on such a combat vocation? In the first place you were not even in command school for whatever reason, then why wanna sign on just to get SGT rank? 6 years contract is a long time, man... wakeup!

But on the other hand, if you think you'll not do well and have no future in civilian life, then perhaps signing on could be a good option; free attire, free food, free lodging, guranteed salary/bonus for 6 years at least, but... you must be able to put up with the regimentation everyday including booking in every sunday nite... lolz
Cheers & have a nice time in the army!
Singapore needs loyal soldiers like you to defend the country!
Merdeka! Majullah Singapura!
im a PTE now.
I wanna know what's the penalty for breaking the contract. Will your rank be stripped if u break 1 year in or around there? Will you be made to pay back extra money on top of the money they gave you, like $10,000 contract break penalty? Or something like that? Anyone know the details???
