Can i ask whether it is good to sign bond with army?
will i have a good pay ?
All comments are welcomed :)
If you don't like to study, or stupid, or lazy, no talent, society's pest, it's considered good pay. Applies to WOSE.
Commissioned officer different story, is, if you are stupid but you think you are smart, you are the worst but you think you are the best.
If you want to climb ranks in the army you only need - connections and balls carrying and also a bit of luck. Brains and talent doesn't apply in army.
Also have you served army? If you have not, get a taste first before thinking whether want to sign bond.
If your dream car is a subaru impreza wrx sti with a red plate, by all means, yes.
@ditzy, You are trying to say the pay very low ?
Think deeper, what does red plate mean
lol... Off-Peak car.
As I tell everyone who dreams of signing on....
..... at least do your BMT first before making a final decision.
Well, A LTC can earn around 10K+ at age 36, so do u think it is a good paying job??

No, because I am 30, and earning 8k+, and I am not in govt sector.
O.o
Well, once a regular told me, do you seriously think those higher-up is working for the country? Do you think they will continue to work in army if the government were to pay them peanuts?
So same questions for you? What do you think? For the country or the money?
BTW, don't bother signing on if you are not PES B at least or are not planning to get a degree, you won't be able to go far.

You do need some brain if you want to climb up the ranks in army. Even army now need you to have a degree ay least to be able to climb up to certain ranks.
If you are trying to climb the ranks of comissioned officer, well, you will need to go through OCS first. This is why I said you will need to be at least PES B.
What I said above is the requirements for the current new MDES career scheme. I think the non-MDES career scheme should work about the same way.
You still liable to get extras/confinements/DB/etc for mistakes you made and getting your weekends/hoildays burned due to duties just like NSF even though you are a regular. Then again, it's an iron rice bowl if you do not commit any serious mistakes.
Trolol's right. Before you decides to sign on, get a taste of how's army life like and ask yourself "Do you like wearing green?". Signing on is probably not for you if your answer is 'No'.
If you are in combat vocation, for regular, not only you need to clear ippt every year, but also SOC, until a certain age of course. I not mentioning for NSF, coz they serve 2 years and fark off.
Do note if your bond is not extended or re-signed. You come out of the army with no relevant experience to the society for a job.
Maybe can be taxi driver? or property agent?
Unless you sign on under Navy.. more xiong, but as recruit, your starting pay 1.8k, plus if u now still in poly, can take the study bonus, which is 25K lump sum when you finish BMT, your NS is considered completed when you finish your bond, and most of the jobs is Mechanical, electronic related, so if your diploma is in those fields, you got good experience can find jobs in that field... can work for ST group of companies ( kinetics, electronic, etc etc)
Plus got alot of allowances when you go overseas... plus benefits... The only reason I not sure about is Singaporeans nowadays not that tough, so the boat rock here rock there sure seasick for a few months... at the same time you under military law and discipline, so the stress may be too much for ppl with weak resolve..
we can choose to sign on with navy? or we will get posted ?
You can choose where you want to go, but BMT is all the same.

As quite a few people here have said, please get a taste of NS first before you sign on.
At the very least, go through your BMT first before you sign on.
Haven bmt want talk so much, buey tahan
Yeah, farking kids...tsk
What?! Its only 50m now? For real?
Agreed, its better to get to unit before making the sign on choice. Because its where you are going to spend the rest of your goddamn regular life.
Navy BMT is different... will be conducted at Changi Naval Base instead of Tekong.. and your pay is different(if you sign on that is).. Tekong is 420, Navy is 1.8k... training also different... navy more swimming...
