Gt ppl fail sit and reach also. Lastime in polly and sec school pullup and chin up the most powerful killer. A lot failed.
Originally posted by tarutaru:True also....but i remember the old Tekong 2.4km route was fantastic....run abt 50m upslope then all the way downslope to abt 1km and flat all the way to the seaside.
I mono-intake...didnt have the good fortune of running 2.4km in Tekong...
TS should check tirmcdohl's avatar, replace the baboon with TS himself, practice with that sure can get GOLD on 2wks time one....
Okay guys, just took the test this morning, which was my last time to pass. I did 12:15. not impressive by any means but 2 months off NS is 2 months off NS. thanks for all the advice given in this thread, much appreciated.
Just for the benefit of those who may in the same situation as me in future and happen to read this thread , i'd like to share my running times building up to the test today.
First time: 14:05 (with anke weights)
then i did interval training for the rest of the first week. 2x1.2km, 10 mins break, my own style.

Second time: 12:37 (ankle weights removed)
Third time: 12:23 (this was on wednesday)
Actual Test today: 12:15
I thought my strategy was pretty risky, leaving it to the last minute to pass. But it probably work because i already pass 2.4 last year, so it was a matter of getting my cardio ready before the deadline (this time no typo) is over.
cheers.
It is not advisable to run with ankle weight. Try training running up slope instead.
your timing is not very good. mine is around 10min at your age.
need to be fitter as you are going NDU...
Ankle weights are totally not advisable. The strain on your ankles and shins can be particularly severe. You risk damaging your ligaments in the process.
Frankly speaking, I dare say that the problem was (and still is) mostly in your head. If you could pass 2.4km comfortably in the past, you should have had no problem passing it again unless you ate so much until you became Michelin Man.
That said, congratulations for passing, but don't rest on your laurels. At the very least, go for a run every now and then to maintain your fitness. 30 minutes of your time every few days will not kill you.
Don't tell me that you have your A Levels to worry about - if anything, a cardio workout every now and then helps to relieve mental stress and improve mental concentration.

in interval training, the rest time recommended by mindef website is the time u practised for the training per round eg. go for 1.5mins one round rest 1.5 mins.
But our TS here took 10 mins of rest, does it affect the quality/outcome of training?

u mean 30 mins of light jog or siong interval trainings?

If you can do interval training, by all means do so....
But if you can't, light jogging is still better than nothing.
I can understand that the TS would be very busy with his studies now.... all I'm saying is, some light exercise won't do harm and may even be beneficial to him.
Just read about the new ippt training facility centre in bukit purmei. it says a few months later more fitness centres will pop out.
The report was out in march, so by now the rest of the fitness centre should be up now?
Anyone can shed some light on this, esp the one at tampines, since i staying at east side now?
eat a banana before 2.4km test. its helps, trust me. if u are weak in running, u need to run more.
let me tell you how to do well in your 2.4km.
just freaking run. and you will do well.
run w/o jogging. confirm <10mins.
it's only 10mins in your entire 24hrs for the day. so just run.
no s3x the night before...
I think 2.4 km run no secret one. The only secret is to train.
The first 2 rounds must try to keep up the pace with everyone else.
Then u can "Relax" for the next 2 rounds.
Then try to speed up for the last 2 rounds.
Try to ask around and see whats other ppls timing and u can try to mark them. It helps u to pace them.

Its should be "deadline" not "date line".

It should be "you" not "u"
