you are planning to sign on to Navy, Army. or Airforce, as what vocation, doing what? It makes a lot of differences.
no such thing as smooth journey unless you scholar imo
Ok, my friend is wearing that new MDES rank today in his air force uniform. He got a diploma in aerospace so he sign on to repair aircraft as part of his career.
Basically, he see it like starting a career after his diploma, like normal people do.
Quite a smart move. he cheated NS.
As I keep telling every single mother's son who is thinking of signing on: do your BMT first before you sign your contract.
It is always better to have a small taste of life in the SAF before you decide whether or not that is what you really want.

He sign after BMT. He cheated so that he will not be posted to "useless" vocation.
I have the same interest as the TS who wish to take on a military career.
Signing on as officer in RSAF has better prospect or in the ARMY?

RSAF, ARMY sux big time...
hijack your thread for a while TS,
Guys, with the economic situation and the pro-FTs policy of labour.
Do you guys change your view of signing on SAF? Or still remain the same?
After all, jobs are going to FTs everyday and counting.
So far SAF ricebowl is being protected against FTs and only locals can apply.
So what's your take?

well, that depends on which sector i guess?
initially it's those bule-collar jobs, now it's in process of spreading to PMETs...

whats PMETs?
ya Singaporeans need to buck up... me included..
I got this feel that there are FT in all levels who can do our job with much lesser pay.
I kinda see diploma officers no up, esp the CMI types... I expect a good officer to be able to think and do.. that being said, if he can think, he probably have no prob getting his basic degree.

white collar jobs and techincian category...
anyway...any MDES who is a air force enginner (supply chain) here?
@BillGates, Kinda disagree with you, being a degree holder just proves that you are academically wise and doesn't mean you can think better, faster and more vigilant. There are people (like me) who got results to enter JC but instead went ahead for diploma, which also prove the above point I just mentioned wrong. So please review on your opinion.=) Maybe its true that our leaders all came from JC(s) and got their degree, however we're living in this era of second chances, where we look for ability to constantly improve oneself than a individual stuck with a degree and act all stuck up.
I'm actually looking forward to signing on as a RSAF Officer, yes I agree with Fudgester to do my BMT before deciding, at the very least I've got the taste of what it's like being in the force first hand. The purpose of being in the force is not solely for money, it's for Pride and Passion, I've learn it from my brother who is currently an Officer waiting for he's Captain position. Hope this help TS, and if you're planning to sign on, see you in the force =D
First of all, have you gone through BMT yet? If not no point for us to advise you

Just like apple. it is alway available in the market. But some people like apple, some eat, some hate. I dont eat apple, even though it is a common fruit. Until you have tasted apple, you should not buy a whole basket home.

Better economy is meaningless if there are no jobs for the common people. Only the rich overpaid CEOs and politicians who failed the common people benefits. Do we have a scaled tax where the excessively rich gets taxed a lot more, accordingly? Since their wealth is ultimately the result of common workers and citizens too.

Academic degrees are nothing these days. A lot of people who are hardworking with their studies has it. Well unless you have a research based-PhD or something which clearly demonstrate your ability for indepent thinking and creativity, and project management skill.
