NS: Outsource Physical Training Instructors (PTI)

Another project doomed to fail.
The paper edition states that the trainers will come from Certis Cisco. They can hardly get their Auxiliary Police Officers into IPPT pass standard (most are fat) and SAF are hiring them to train front line combat troops and reservist's fitness? Furthermore they are civilians, how about command and control?
All i see is another enterprising business contract. Might as well scrap NS and hire mercenaries. Or get security companies to protect our camps. Save our young lads their nights doing guard duty.

Yes, scrape the ns.
Make ns as volunteer. Or rather make the ns as a job (whoever want to serve ns sign bond and get paid).

No. I think it is a good idea. The professional physical trainers will understand the general fitness, better. And able to benchmark the correct expectation.
I will expect proper physical training and less causalities.
Think about it, SAF in the past, is stupid enough to select the fitter boys to go to become PTI. Should they save the elite for front line vocations? It does not make sense.
In the past, all the PTIs are so fit and their expectations are too high. And they end up overstraining the weaker one. Bear in mind, SAF is asking the extreme upper quarter of the normal distribution for fitness level to train the people that stay in the average level and below. I think recruiting PTI from certis ciso is feasible and it provide a professional physical training, this will save manpower, and also able to be update with the current sport science training methodology.

Current Fitness Specialists also learn the science also, not just how many reps of calisthenics a soldier must do. I know some senior FS ranks who attain sports science, etc. degrees and such. They are in a postion to advise soldiers how to train and even eat right and also with them being military its easy to get men to follow orders.
Cisco? The guys they hiring are ex-FS who ae waiting for university entry. How many will stay on permanently. Might just end up with meat head gym rats who teach soldiers the wrong techniques or just to get the right body look.

Well, on the whole, it make sense to deploy the fitter guys to chong, and save on manpower.
Frankly, I still HATE the PTI in the Tekong after so many years. Really hate them.

I wonder is it a manpower issue or a budget issue? They cut the NS from 2 half years to 2 years - outsource almost everything now. Soldiers now-a-days don't even need to clean bunks, toilets and parade square any more! Discipline is a big issue in the Army, cadets can argue with their commanders some more!
Mindef shouldn't have any budget problem so I guess its manPower issue - Since out source why not get California fitness instructers? They are professionals and able to motivate them better.

LOL, you are obviously not in fitness line. ...
Time have changed, cadets can provide useful informations which commanders can pick up and use. Work efficiency and teamwork works better if every1 can acknowledge a common goal.
Talking about arguments, quarrels and fights whether in school or at work are not approved by the public. Constructive meeting and discussion should be promoted.
Why do you ask the soldiers to waste their time doing area cleaning, when they can put their time for other better use?

since when commanders will listen to cadets inform and ideas?
dun u know that lots of extra work always done in ICT ?
