That way noone will want to be a combatant. The morale and motivational issue is already huge at the combatant side. We dont really need to make it worse.

  And you still have failed to give any examples (atleast a few) on how to shorten the liability. If you want to stop at basic training, and skip the assesment and experience that second year provides, then fair enough. Maybe for technicians its enough to just teach you the theory on being a technician then expecting that the person can perform.

   

  PS. If you want to argue rationally, there is no point in personal attacks like calling me Myopic. You want to assume that i have no experince overseas when i lived 8 years of my life outside Singapore.

  Wrong, gurkhas are tough because of their outlook in life and culture, Ever seen a banzai charge falter before? There were many cases of banzai charges faltering in front of a gurkha defence in WWII.

  Reduce it to 12 months.

  Dont waste the boys time. They need to work too.

Furthermore they can even claim taxi fare or even petrol cost if necessary. Like that still underpaid? You go ask the selling tissue auntie and the auntie collecting plates in hawker centre, how long they worked in order they made 1K.

  I thought our current Y generation spend too much.

  well if you are to those refering to clerks in Mindef etc. I think many people in the chiong sua unit are willing to swap with them. Well u win some u lose some...that's life. Btw I think they get concession with transport.
