Hi all!
During my medical checkup, I was told by the MO that due to my eyesight, I do not qualify for Commandos. But MO said that during my BMT, i can request for a review at MMI to see if i can go for eyesight correction surgery. PES B now due to eyesight.
Lets say i enter BMT leadership batch, manage to get into OCS and somehow manage to fix my eyesight before/during/after BMT/OCS. Is it still possible to get into Commandos after my OCS?
I plan to sign on if i can get into OCS and Commandos.
Sorry that i post this again! Can't get any answer in other topic.
Thanks!
I thought you have to undergo the Commando phase of OCS and bmt mah?
But the recruiter i talked to said that I can always choose to sign on before/during/after my 2 years. So after OCS and i choose to sign commandos. How will that work out?
i dun think u get to choose commandos.. they choose you!
My regular friend applied for commando training a few times and finally converted to a commando after being in the infantry for 5 years.
I think if you kanna chosen by commando, it would be straight away BMT everything at the commando camp? In which you do not need to go to tekong and things like that.
But if you go OCS, then you ORD, i think you still can sign on.. but whether commando will accept you is another matter.. you might need to go thru all the shit again, and worst... even though u are an officer you will still be treated like shit by the commando sergeants and coporals..
Thanks for all the reply!
This matter really troubled me! LOL
I guess i have to speak to my PC or CO or OC or whatever when i go into BMT.
But Chunhow got friend from infantry convert to commandos, that mean i got chance! LOL
why die die commando? many other vocations in the force also can contribute.

LOL! Thanks for the advice kcockicht! But i have no technical skills, I'm HR specialist by studies.
And I still prefer chiong sua then doing maintenance work. I haven go army yet so ya i might not treat a 7 day field camp like chalet and 24km route march like shopping trip but i believe i will still prefer combat job.

no problem now that we fine funed your expertise. i think in any armed forces leaders are important , from the sergeant majors whom directly lead the men in the field to juniors officers like lieutanents. if you are in HR i suggest taking the officer roadmap. it will help in your resume even if one day you do not serve with the Force anymore. leadership roles may help more in your HR skills and credits. depending on what an officer you want to be you can always chio sua and lead inspire your men right at the field amongst them.

Thanks for the advice!
My only problem is that Specs are more closer to the men. Officers are not that close.
I want to be there with my men and chiong together but somehow i heard officers are not possible doing all these. Stories of officers standing behind and execute their eye power are just wtf to me. Is it possible to be an officer and yet close to men? Chiong sua together? If possible I confirm every morning join my men for 5BX and makan together.

i say both also important by youstill have to choose to be either one. yest man is nearer but if the junior or senior officers made the wrong decisions the men dies or casualty rate increase. you can shooe tobe specialise too then if you are really good there's always a chance to go commisioned. otherwise take the warrant officer path is fine too. pay wise i think not musch difference. for commisioned officers really its tougher to go higher, unless you have adgree of course.
as for how the junior officer wnat to behave its really up to individual. there;'s nothing wrong with mingling with your men in the field.

Ya degree is confirm a must have. Thanks for the help. But being an Warrent, have to salute a 20 year old LTA who is properly still a virgin... not looking forward to it. Officer should still be my path.
Thanks
