Hi, I've already went through the interview and signed the "fake"(draft) contract for rsaf's senior tech vocation. Basically I'm given 7 days to withdraw after the signing of draft.
If I don't like it or change my mind( more than 7 days as i've went thru the interview), can I still withdraw.
Secondly,
I want to know more about what senior tech do in rsaf and pros and cons.
The best is a current or ex senior tech can come in and share some experiences and stuffs.
All your help is greatly appreciated.
firstly not a senior tech here
once u in liao ah, u cannot choose wher u go, as in fixed wing, radar, weapon etc..then the rest i think i leave it to the senior tech
Cannot choose area of specialization?
bo leh
i doubt u can choose. u will be posted anywhere, be it UAV, fixed or rotary wing platform, engine/airframe/avionics/electronics trade/flight line etc.
anyway do u know that u are put under the MDES scheme?
if i were u i would have joined STAe. at least can clock OT on weekends.

This is strictly my opinion.
Unless you need the money, don't carry on with it. I'm not sure what the new schemes are like these days, but if you have the opportunity to flexibly plan your career, switch around, you should value it. Cos once you are contracted, you lose all that flexibility.
If you still cant decide what you wanna do in life, don't jump into a military contract just because of that. Take a few more years to study and upgrade yourself while figuring that out. Or just start off a job with whatever training qualifications you have first and take your time to think through.
One of the biggest traps that people whom I know have signed on said they fell into was "time." They didn't really weigh out the decision carefully until they had went through the interview and were on the verge of signing. This period which you are in is when a lot of my friends just decided "f-ck it, the pay is good anyway" and penned a contract which they regretted.
Like I said, unless you NEED the money, don't do it.
cruz,
in the 1980s when people from malaysia, burma, phillippines, china, india etc started flooding into spore high tech factories n taking jobs away from spore.....to sign on at dat time was good.
however present day most of technicians----- supervisors-----engineers---managers are all taken over by foreigners.there is no place for sporeans n u would be lucky even to give u a civil service increment standard even.
if u doubt the job u are signin fer..........then dont sign on.have u tried the market outside??if its stilll good then enjoy the freedom of outside civilian life.....or start a company with the skills u find in the civilian world.
ex RSAF tech here
don't join
benefits sucks, workload doesn't justify the pay (depending on your unit which you can't choose), you will be lead by bosses who are not qualified (they don't have the relevant papers for the industry) which in turn makes your life difficult.
if u really like military aviation, join STAE, they need people because the RSAF has started commercialising and STAE needs people to take over that contract fully.
if u like aviation and want to earn money, go SQ. never never never go to RSAF.

ST AeroEngineering: www.staero.aero
u can join...but heard they have quota to retain the people once in the forces.dunno how true.maybe can ask your guy that u sign the contract.end up u may be shooed out at end of contract and be fed to wolves and foreigners in civilian side.
join st...............?u sure it hasnt been taken over by foreigners inside???only a matter ofr time before the salary is reduced to 1k/mth.and for what???1k/mth??that kinda money even the non-english speakin vietnamese working as cleaners regard as low.
and why does singapore with a vast amount of industries pay so low ?
australia if u line up their factory and industries only sums up to 10% of spore industries.that is oz has 100 factories in low tech side,......spore has a 1000 factories.most of them are in high tech superior side.but the pay of singaporeans have been sacrificed to the point of ridicule.while the foreigners can thrive anywhere with the same spore pay.
sounds alot like oppression.

stop talking cock
basic pay is always low (even SQ technicians), the people in there earn money from OT.
if you want to bring politics in, go to speakers corner
if you don't know the industry, just shut up.

This is not the place for you to fight and you know very well the language you use.
Kopisatu may have insulted you but he has posted proper reasons to while your posts are strictly personal insults with no other purpose.
If you can't control ur temper, do not come to SAF forum and rant.
Thead has been locked because of Hitman3 children behavior. Anyone with proper advice for TS can do so in pm.
