What If: Can Choose & Pick Vocation ?

"IF" during CMPB, the officer give you a form and ask to pick a vocation, choice of 6. What you want to pick?
But of course it is like O level posting, the best fitness and academic are rank from top to bottom. The better one get their choice, and if the vocation is filled up the person goes to two and the third ... if he cannot get the choice from 1 to 6 he will be randomly posted.
my choice is
1. NDU
2. empty
3. empty
4. empty
5. empty
6. empty

Personally i feel most people do not even know about all the vocations that SAF has to really decide what they want to do. Only those who wants NDU, commando etc will have more of an aim while many of the rest will just hope to get something slack and get over with it asap.

slack also must know where to slack
lifeguard is not bad. driver is good.

Driver seems good but do know that drivers have a easy chance of going DB or signing extra etc due to accidents which may not always be their fault.

that is really true. There is one driver that I indent during my NS years. He came in botak. After chatting with him, he just came out from DB like yesterday. He just came back, reporting to camp, and I am his first customer... But... when he started driving, I am like WOW no wonder you met and accident and go DB for 1 week!
I say, "As a vehicle commander I order you to slow down and keep your speed not more than 60 km/h. Else you stop the vehicle and knock down 20 for me !! " Then he like scold me bad words in Hokkien and slow down. This kind of cannot study school dropout, really stubborn, stupid and hard to control, no wonder even mono-intake also post him out...

60 is above SAF allowed speed oh :p
Normally the drivers sent to me are still relatively obedient cos i know their specs well and any problem they (the spec as well as the driver :p) will get it from me or worse. Sometimes i will 'select' my drivers though, taking the 1s i know through guard duty etc that are friendly to me.
Most of them cannot study well that true and quite crude and ah beng etc but there are occasionally 1s which are quite guai, obedient and cooperative.

You not officer? If officer charge him for insubordinatation or whatever you call it let him go back to DB

If you are in a combat vehicle, you are already in trouble if he drives 60... cos either he tampered with the speed warning device or he did not care whether the counter had been counting...If you are in a GP car, the speed allowed is 80, depends on the road.
Anyway, do not sterotype drivers. Cos all unit/vocations have the kind of person you are talking about. Maybe you yourself are the type of person you are talking about.

drivers most of them are beng and cannot study one. But going DB like chalet so often, he is the only one of the kind. i remember him well, for the roller coaster ride he give me

I have to say that most of these bengs I come across are very nice guys, when u ask them to do things nicely they'll w/o hesitation do it. Lot of the educated idiots, ask them do things, they start kicking the ball around all they do is siam here and there.
