My commanders have been telling us that if you do too badly for things like SIT test, IPPT, SOC, range-shooting and field camp drills, you have a higher chance in being posted to rifleman/guards.. Is that true at all?
And they've also been telling us that if u choose 'no' to command school, then you'll have a higher chance of ending up as rifleman/guards as compared to choosing 'yes' even when you fail to meet the OCS/SISPEC criteria. Is this true? (if the question even makes any sense to you guys)
Apologies for asking so many questions all the time. I'm just always worried.
then save yourself the worry ....
one snipe and all your worries would be gone ....

There are alot more vocations than just guards and infantry. Its just the usual thing PC/PS etc will keep saying so that the RECs will be afraid and work even harder.
Obviously if you don't go command school, u have a higher chance of going guards and infantry SIMPLY because people who go command school has a chance of going SISPEC/OCS while you don't. With 2 more places to be posted to, obviously your chance is slightly higher by 1 or 2% so its lame but they are sort of telling the truth.
There is no absolute in posting and PC/PS has very little say in your final posting.
depends on intake also, like guards they all need ppl or not.
hmm the thing about sit test and all that, i would say its true for MOST ppl. some ppl i duno how they end up in cmd sch also. they did not seem to do well in sit test

True.
True.
They wan to filter the better man to the command school.
But...
I was super "cannot make it" CK kid, that failed SOC, retake range 3 - 6 times, misfired, half-way MC from field camp, half-way MC from SIT test, only pass IPPT (silver, first week BMT), passed swimming. Excuse RMJ, 95% of the time, so much that I didnt even know how to march at all before POP. LOL.
But I got eventually posted to be Navy Medic.

by default, those people who go through BMT in tekong as leadership batch should get SISPEC minimum if they clear ippt, soc. suck up doesnt mean they get command sch voc all the time. poor peer appraisal = unwanted vocation.
those who chose YES for command sch, and pass the min criteria, but end up in units as men = they screwed up in BMT/or during the computer test at CMPB.
so how can we chek how well we did 4 the copmuter test?
not bootlicking results in tough vocation.

U will never know
SAF knows how to deploy man according to their personality.
If you slack (physically) all the way, you will end up a slacker vocation.
If you are hardworking all the way, you will end up to be a spec or officers.
If you are in between, you will end up in rifleman or guards
Same as study one,
If you slack (mentally) all the way, you will end up as dropout or ITE
If you are hardworking all the way, you will end up Uni
If you are in between, you will end up in Poly.
I have put all my stats in intelligence so I end up as cleric. But I am not luckless build.
No point worrying too much. If I not wrong, your vocation is decided by a NSF clerk inside CPC

Vocation should be done by regulars. Camp posting is done by NSF

Nope thats not correct. All is done by NSF but supervised by regulars. The NSF has guidelines to follow.

Thats interesting and that gives more people a reason to blame the clerks for cocking up their vocational posting only to OOC within the 1st week of posting to their new vocation due to medical issues that were already known yet ignored during posting.

Hi dkcx,
There is a lifeguard vocation in the army. They are responsible for looking after swimming pools in the army and the safety of the users.
Cheers.

Wah this vocation should be even slacker than almost every other vocation then considering noone trains the whole day in the pool (except maybe NDU) and there aren't alot of pools in SAF in the 1st place...

A pure vocation driver may have to go outfield alot but generally they do not take part in the training that their attached units are involved in so its not really that tough.
Ts

It is often considered the best vocation in the SAF. Until you realise that we reservice as rifleman as well.
Honestly speaking it depends on camp to camp. Some camps ( er...hem...Nee Soon ), the lifeguards have a very good life, whereas in some other camps, they are worked half to death ( Toilets cleaning, field cutting, fixing of sports facilities ) and have other "privileges", such as double digit guard duty.
Mine is one of the best , (When compared to most others of course, though if you are to think lifeguard is pure slack, you will be in for nasty surprises) and I have no complaints.
why everyone seems to scare rifleman n guards so much...
hmm...
