PRs don't need to do NS, this i agree - provided that PRs don't get the same / better benefits.
but the new citizens should do some form of NS because they have become citizens, they can vote... bla bla bla.

I think people are not angry about PRs not doing any NS - we can't expect them to.
But he apparently does not think too much of people aged 30,40, 50 doing NS, that's why he says he "would not want to be the platoon commander"
He must have forgotten that many singaporean males aged 30 - 40 are still doing their reservist and serving the nation despite these tough economic times.

Reminds me of my old job i got a PR colleague ribbed us about doing ICTs and earning leass for the month than him. That cunt bought a HDB flat when the market is low, stayed in JB and rented out his flat. Makes me think why should we make dickheads like him earn plenty of cash when young Singaporeans have trouble looking for flats and this asshole makes a profit with the same rights the Govt gave them.

so should you take it out on the PR or the garmen that gave him the benefit?
honestly, i think the PR has taken (with open arms) what the garmen has given to him. i don't see anything wrong with that. hey if another country lets me buy a place to rent it out to earn money, i don't mind!
its the stupid garmen that is making all things equal for PRs

We are born here and we are the spice here.
We serve the country and no one should discriminated by the loyalty that we have shown through NS and reservist including the office holders.
The PRs have to serve NS to prove themselves worthy to become Singaporean.
Any one that demean or degrade the significance of being a singaporean should be removed from office.
We and our forefathers have worked hard to make Singapore a haven for our future generation.
It should not be taken advantage of by an individual who gained his easy life through his daddy.

A lot of you are very ignorant ppl here. If you say that PRs enjoy better benefits than citizens, then I am telling you F**k you! There is a reason why some PRs want to be citizens.
A lot here say that PRs dont need to serve NS = BULLSHIT! Abt 10% of my BMT platoon were PRs!
btw, PR stands for PERMANENT Resident. And I do not see the reason why PERMANENT residents should not be allowed to buy HDBs since they are permanent. And even in buying HDBs, they also have less benefits such as buying only resale, no HDB loan only bank loan etc. And for a lot of PRs the reason to become permanent resident was because the want to live here but cannot afford private property (which btw can be bought by any foreigner). So thru become PR is the only way to own a home.
As for everyone here, we should not forget that our parents, grand parents or/and great grand parents were immigrants one day too
