I’m shocked that these words can come from a former Brigadier-General of the Singapore Armed Forces, the current Prime Minister of Singapore! I do not know the context at which such stupid statement came from a statesman but to belittle the contributions and sacrifices of thousands of NSmen who serves till 40 is appallingly sick! It is so sad to know that Singapore citizens who recite the Singapore Aspiration (Pledge?) are lesser mortals in Singapore than PRs who spice up the lives of elite Singaporeans!

He knows if he enacts policies like NS for foreign talents, it will not be accepted by them. He can only trample on Singaporeans, we are the submissive lot.
I seriously think he is not suitable to be PM. First offend Singaporeans during election by telling them if we vote in more opposition, he will have to spend more time "fixing them". We vote these opposition politicians in to represent us, indirectly he is "fixing" us.
Now he tells us that above 30 years old don't need to serve NS.

what you've stated isnt even the objective of the PMs. If you infer it right, the mentioning of the ages are used as excuses. The OBJECTIVE here is for PRs to NOT serve NS.

so we shouldn't be pissed with PRs or FTs because they are in the "safe zone"
however i don't like it when PRs want to buy flats, they shouldn't be given the luxury of buying housing, they jolly well rent it from the citizens who can buy it.

yup true. There are 2 different messages he is conveying to the public:
1. Sg needs foreigners and FT.and they are GOOD and will do Sg better .quote , "They are spice"
2. These FT and PRs do NOT need to serve NS.

People already kpkb why single singaporean males (who do NS, who do reservist, who pay taxes) cannot buy resale flats until they are 35 years old, while a single PR can jointly buy a resale flat with her brother/sister.
I never thought about this housing issue before until I saw it mentioned in other forums.
