about myself(really sad cos haven get VA): 17yrs 7 mntHS.

168cm, 53 kg.(abit of a shorty..lol)
PES A, Nafpa Silver
fit type..love sports and outdoors
im currently in j2 now and i went for my medical checkup on the 10th of july..i got pes D for the first time(family history)...then one month later(10th August) i called cmpb and asked my latest test results..i got PES A!!! my napfa i got silver...i just wanna know why i have not recieved any VA yet cos most of my friends have gotten their VAs for commando and NDU and they are not even interested(p.s my friends all got their VAs exactly one mnth aft their medical)...im very very very interested in joining commando or the NDU but i have not gotten any VAs yet(CHECKING MY MAILBOX EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!!!!) i wanna challenge myself further and defend singapore..lol..also i wanna prove to pple(my dad and family- they are always discouraging me saying that i cant do shit and stuff like tt) INCLD myself tt i can do it and im not a pussy...Will i get it by Sept 10th 2009 or earlier? are thr any thr VA intakes in sept?? plus sept is during my sch prelims!! alvls in nov! if i do not get any VA by sept is it possible if i can call CMPB and arrange with them an appointment for a commando or ndu va?? Pls reply if u are exp and know much about this thank you very much!!!! -
Simple reason :NOT everyone waiting to be enlisted will be called up for Commando or NDU vocational assessment.
No,you cannot call up CMPB to arrangement for a VA.It is they who decide who they want to go for it,not up to us.
Being fit and all that has nothing to do with whether you get selected for VA other than the need to be PES A/B.I have friends who have never pass NAPFA for several years going for it too.
Just wait and see.Don't be too disappointed if you do not get in.Any other combat vocation will prove your worth just as much to your family,not just commando and ndu.

Well I always adviced enlistees to keep an open mind, it's good to aim high but don't be despaired if u don't in OCS.

Different intake most probably. And not eveyone got into the same training camp. You kpkb now but then when you join the normal bmt, you would be thanking God that you did not get into other unit liao...

If you really want to get into the badass outfit beyond the SAF selecting you, go sign on.
Personally I like to do cool stuff during NS, but not to sign on man, 2 years is enough. Though I still miss my daily firearm fix... sigh...

All the best. My lil bro also hopes to go commando, but not NDU. He says he went to CMPB to do some computer test but didn't do that well because he didnt think it was important and anyhow do. So he's worried now that it will affect his chance to go OCS but I don't think so, I asked around and they say OCS admission is dependent more on BMT not the computer test. Excited for all of you enlistees

Besides, at 53kg, when the company goes for a clean jump, they'll be shaking their chutes down while you're still trying to land.

well, i would like to say that i checked my mailbox today and i received a letter from cmpb..its a letter stating my PES..telling me now ur pes status is confirmed and pls bring it when u enlist..wtf...so now my pes is confirmed in MINDEF's database, so do i still get a chance for a VA letter in sept?

There still might be a chance since they need to know whether you are fit PES wise first b4 selecting ppl for VA.Still,the "NOT everyone will get selected for VA" rule applies.
Keep an open mind and don't pin all hopes on getting selected for a VA.

Hey there... sorry kind of noob in this area of NS..Need some of ur advice, but just want to check when will i enlist as i have gone for the commandos VA on 29 july' 09 and i belong to the PTP batch( as i nv took my napfa) .. so when will i receive my enlistment letter ??

seeing that you did your VA in july i'm guessing you're from a Junior College? U'll be joining us in Dec via PTP batch. Your peers from the BMT batch would join and merge tgt in Jan. Cheers.

erm nope i am not from junior college, i'm from poly but nv get to into the june batch as i have to repeat 1 semester.. whoa december means i am going to get my enlistment letter soon?? like in 2-3 weeks time? cause they say 2 mths b4 enlistment right? But now i thought the system change extra ptp for 1 more month? that means 2 mths ptp?

There is a chance you might miss the Dec intake as well, there is no confirmation you will sure get into CDO even if you did go for the tests, interviews etc.
With the new change to the BMT structure, the actual enlistment dates should change and be different from what most of us know them as so we can't really be certain about the next few enlistment dates.

HAHA.. yea i am ok with that.. don't really know much bout cdos also, but just asking first as ppl say high chances to go in when u go for VA... so yea just wanting to know when can i go into ns.. waiting for the lettter really kills..

Jus-tea meant you will be joining the FAMILY.
Anyway, I didn't know much about cdos before I enlisted, just some off-screen knowledge. Don't worry la, you will be shaped in your mindset when you are inside. Have fun before you enlist..
