Hey,
I think i asked this before but I kinda forgot the details.
My friends told me that in army they cant choose whether they can opt to go engineering serivce units. I wanna ask if in army after BMT can I kinda like write a resume to go to engineering service units? Like those which fix the jeeps and the tanks. I hope to spend my army days fixing tanks n jeeps so that at the end of the day I can get to fill in my future resumes that I have spent my entire army as a technician.
Plus, is there a chance where I can go for part time nitec in automotive engineering which lasts two years while in army if I go into the engineering service units?
Please enlighten. Thank you.
Wa, i am in OETI... Generally, life in OETI is good, but u dun suay suay like me kena A-Veh...
You will sian....
Most active unit, and most active means, super active...
Although course at OETI is stay out, A-Veh always makes u go home late, while u see ur B and C-Veh and small arms counter-part go home is sian one..
Anyway, to get into which unit is not up to us to choose...
Your best chance of getting into OETI, is to get into a Men-Only company, or OOT from commander's company (not seriously until become clerk)
Brother, I haven go army leh.
I just asking how to go engineering service units nia. To me carry guns and running and sing cheers to increase morale for 2 years I will die.
Btw wads OETI??
I dun mind go home late, but dun give me worthless experience at the end of two years lol.
Ok I think OETI means like engineering and technical Institute.
How to like work myself, like perform accordingly to get inside there?
oo i thought u this batch BMT... Actually army we really have no say... OC might be able to help abit in BMT but... still, very little...

It stands for Ordnance Engineering Training Institute.
Honestly speaking,no one knows how they allocate the vocations. It all seems very randomized.
From what I have seen, quite a number of my friends who did diploma in electronics/mechatronics ending up as technician during their NS.I guess their diploma might have influenced their posting but there is no gurantee that every person who takes the same course will end up doing the same job.
During your BMT,you can voice out to your PC during interviews that you would like to be a technician after you POP...they will take note but they won't be able to do much about it.
As for part time studies,if you are allowed to stay out and have the time, you can go for it.BUT,you must be mentally prepared that you might not be able to attend all the lessons or you might end up being late for some. This is especially true during periods where there are inspections/audit/excercises.If you need extra time off to study, you have to ask your OC(Boss) for permission. If they say no,then there is nothing you can do about it.Do note that the army will not sponsor your course,it will be entirely your own initiative to do part time studies.
One word of advice as a NSF,please DO NOT miss out on a recall manning should there be one and use studies as an excuse. That will be asking for trouble as I have seen in serveral cases. If you do not know what a recall manning is,don't worry, you will be familiar with it once you are serving.
Wish you luck in getting the vocation you want!
PS:Only sure way of becoming a technician is if you sign on to be one!Lol!
Ook nice. Ya I paying for the ITE education myself. When is POP? After BMT at Tekong ar?
Education has no relationship with whether you get posted to OETI as a technician or not. My entire platoon, most people were from non engineering fields like IT, business or sciences.

Yes,POP is after your 3 month BMT if you go for the normal one.If you go for the obese bmt,it will be longer. If you go for PES C bmt(modified),it will be shorter.
Please take note that you might not end up doing BMT in tekong. This happens if you kanna mono intakes which means you enlist directly into the unit to be a certain vocation. For example,if you directly enlist into a SIR,you will do BMT in their own camp and after you POP,become a rifleman for the 2 years in the same camp.Mono intake also includes Commando and Naval Diver.
You N lvl or O lvl ?
If N lvl mostly mono intake.
O lvl i not sure.
Even Nitec also mostly mono intake.
I in Singapore Poly.
From Aeronautical engg, like cars, then transfer to mechanical engg cus 1st year is common year.
Then go mechanical engg, found out totally no directly car related modules zzz. Only thermofiulds have. haiz.
So u gonna apply for Nitec course after u get your diploma?!

ITE higher chance of mono intake cos tekong intakes are mostly leadership batches which is mostly for dip n A's holder

Singapore Infantry Regiment.
and you can try sending in letters or whatever you like, but unless you have a big politician standing besides you, they'll give you what they'll give you. LLST and enjoy it.
ook relax.
Hahaha, my friend and uncle rule this part of the army.
If I remember correctly, this is the only special vocation, where they would normally select ITE guys studying the "Repair Motor Vechicles" to their camp. But sometimes they also get the odd ones. And unsually they will psycho them to sign on. Depends on your luck.
Certain army vocations, you can opt to go in like scout, sniper, commando, diver, OCS, specialists. They will select and interview.
If you are a sportsmen, they might invite you to join SAFSA.
But usually the BTC will go mono intake.
Forgot to mention, usually the technicians are pes C
u cannot choose de la.... write in also no use....

I would say you are serious wrong.
Being a technician myself and seeing over 8 batches of technicians from my seniors to all my juniors etc etc, there are hardly any ITE students in the entire maintainance battalion.
Most ITE students will go mono intake into the combat units. ALL technicians come from tekong or OOT personnel so its really rare for you to find much ITE students among us.
