For your 1st question, I cannot answer you since I am not from the Navy, but I can answer some of your other questions.
For Pes E people, regardless of where you are sent, you will most likely either be a clerk or a storeman.
They should have told you what extra things you needed to bring to CMPB via your letter, otherwise, all you need to bring is yourself and your identification.
And staying in wise, odds are you will need not stay in given your PES, but then again, it is also dependent on what vocation you are posted to. Sometimes storemen need to stay in as they need to prepare equipments needed for exercises at as early as 3 in the morning, so it is hard to say.
All the individual units that make up HQ RSN are located at MINDEF...with the exception of one particular unit which is in Tuas. I guess that means you are destined for an 8 to 5 life. Biggest drawback is probably the fact tt you'll have to pay for your meals at the canteen
TS it did not state which camp meh?
WAAA....SO LUCKY PES E.WHILE MOST OF YER FRIENDS WOULD BE HAVING SLEEPLESS NIGHTS IN PULAU TEKONG CARRYING A LOG THAT WEIGHS A TONNE AND WORRYING BOUT GHOSTS CHASING THEM AT U ONLY NEED TO WORRY STAYING IN A SHIP OR BUNK OVERNIGHT.NO SWEAT EVEN!
NO IDEA WHERE RSN HQ IS NOW.

There isn't
The main HQ for Navy is at Changi Naval Base. But you need not necessarily be posted there. They may shift you around depending on your vocation and where you would be needed most. So your choices are either Changi Naval Base(CNB), Tuas Naval Base(TNB), Sembawang Naval Base(NDU) or if you are really very lucky, stay at Mindef Gombak to deal with the RSN matters there. And yes, you will be a clerk, considering your E1L9 status...

CNB very far inside....I would rather stay in if posted there..unless I stay in the east or I got car to drive.

why are you shouting, I been through log PT as well.....i understand what happen if the height difference in the team may cause someone to like he's carrying the whole log...I know there was a time when BMT removed log PT, I don't know is it to certain coy or to the whole BMT. During my times, we were even required to carry the log throughout the field, surely u can imagine what happened if everyone pace is different.
hey guys sry for e long reply.
ok on the letter they have stated lotsa items.but they have put in brackets that its not applicable to pes e fellas.
wah changi far man haha
HQ RSN is a group of units consists of many departments. They will probably send you for course first. Get specialise...
Dont worry too much. Navy is very well organized. They will settle "everything" for you.
If you find posting too far away from your house. Can request for reposting.
Most of the clerk are civilizans or regulars so they will do their job well to keep their rice bowl. They are no different from the people in the working society.
Forgot to mention, Changi Naval Base is very hard to get to without people guiding you. And you can get lost inside the base.

Not to mention that CNB is very far deep inside, practically cannot walk.......and no bus services except shuttle service.

I'm currently in the RSN. Since your pes status is E and your reporting venue is CMPB, you will go to your unit directly on your day of enlistment. Someone will pick you up and bring you to your unit.
After CMPB that line is HQ RSN means you will be posted to any units under HQ RSN. Most of them are in Gombak, with one each at Maju and CMPB itself, and a couple each in Changi and Tuas. You are likely going to Gombak.
Life is basically clerk job with essential office duties (open and close office aka duty clerk) and necessary camp duties (depending on which camp and whether you are called up or not)
You just bring your beloved NRIC and your enlistment letter on your enlistment day. You will be given a bag, a notepad, a pair of dogtags and your 2 year companion called the 11B. You will sing the National Anthem and take the Oath at the enlistment venue.
I have never heard navy clerks staying on their first day of work. You will get to go home on the first day so dont worry.
MINDEF hotline is crap. You made the wise choice of asking in the forum.
Where you stay? Need directions on how to get camp?

Tuas is also quite big. Its basically Changi minus off most of the grass in Changi. lol.

Take off from work very not worth especially if its half day. It costs you 16min to get from the Pass Office to Tanah Merah, not forgetting your route home. The farther you live, the more your off will be eaten by your journey home.

Days spent in CNB, urgh....I hated it when I have to collect food from the cookhouse and then bring it back to my place.
And hallelujah if you had to walk in the afternoon to get home!

It sucks to walk the wharf to take the 1240 bus. and now the pass office has moved to the Yacht club there, next to the spec mess. really gg.

Wahaha....I ORDed before that happened.
That's nothing...I tried to walk from my place, to the guard house, and then attempted a trek to Tanah Merah Ferry Ter.
I ended up hitching a ride at the desalination plant.

No wonder I always hear of hitch-hikers along Tanah Merah Coastal Rd.
