My friends are all going to tekong for their bmt. But i got into 2SIR direct enlistment.
Heard that mono intake usually for lower qualification brothers. not sure true anot?
Anyway, i completed my diploma, got pes A status and pass nafa with gold. Not sure why i kena direct enlistment. Any idea?
Your dip is local or private dip? Private dip are not really recognised if i not wrong.
If not then i only have 1 word to say and thats suay.
My dip is local one. not sure is really suay or maybe CMPB mistake. anyway will i lose out in anything compared to those going to tekong? cause i heard direct enlistment cant get into sispec or sth like that.

ya, correct... tekong guys can go sispec/ ocs, while u cannot...
i suggest u go call the ns.sg hotline at 1800 3676767 to appeal whether can transfer or not... if they ask for reason, then say u very keen to go sispec/ ocs (command schools) lor....

Mono is for lower qualification. Check with CMPB blah
I called the ns hotline already, the guy told me that direct enlistment still can go sispec/ocs.
He also mentioned that it is possible to get posted anywhere even with higher qualification.
If thats the case then i dun see any disadvantage as to where im posted to.
The thing is i can try to appeal to get into tekong first or i can choose to stay in my amoy quee camp as infantry regiment throughout my NS. not sure which is a better solution cause amoy quee is quite near my house.
The chances to get posted to SISPEC/OCS from direct intake is as close to 0 as you can get. Maybe 1 or 2 might be lucky and the unit is willing to recommend you for it but chances are not high and you need to be VERY outstanding to make them consider it.
Getting to tekong is still the easiest route cos as long as you express interest to be a commander in tekong, u will almost be certain to get into SISPEC as long as you meet the minimum requirement.
I guess the reason why you get into 2SIR is because of your pes status...I mean, pes A in infantry is kinda matching right? It shows that you're combat fit, and thus, 2SIR is where you're going.
you fucked up your MAPAS test, did you?
fyi, for TS, the MAPAS test is the computer test right after ur medical checkup at cmpb...
Haha. Kind of.. did the test half-heartedly. Bloody 2 hrs of crap. Besides, got a section where they require u to use the keyboard and only realise that keyboard was disconnected halfway towards the end of the test.
If u guys were in my shoes would u try to appeal to get into tekong? Or just serve and fuck off?
Thanks for your advices anyway.
Wow last time i did not know got such thing
if i'm you...i would happy serve as a man (enlistee) and not a spec or officer.
no doubt infantryman or rifleman may put you off, but you just listen to orders and have no responsibilities.
i'm completing my 7th ict this year ... all thru the years, the men basically have nothing much to do. but sect commanders and above have all the shit in the world to complete.

ya that's true, but you have much more authority and more 'power' as a commander. And you also get respect, though it's sometimes for the rank only. Promotions are much easier, like usually 2LT who are going to ORD will be promoted to LTA, whereas CPL dont usually get to promote to CFC, unless you're highly recognized by your superiors, etc.
