Since the previous thread expired already. I thought i'll fire it up again (mods dun mind!)
I'm currently doing my diploma (non technical diploma) in a local polytechnic and thinking of signing on to this vocation.
I have 3 friends who are already (regulars) in the same vocation. But all 3 are still in trainee phrase, so not much info i can get from them. I'm hoping if there is any navy old timer somewhere in here to ans my queries =)
1) I've already served finish my 2 years of NS in ADA, so if i sign a 6 year bond, do i get a 2 year reduction for my term of engagement?
2) I know for most NSF's in navy they are required to stay in, but if I do sign on as a regular, other than the required stay in period, i.e training and whatever, do I get to stay out? (I've more of less stayed in during my NSF period) *This is very important as it affects qns 3
3) I intend to take up a part time degree course to upgrade myself while in service, is it possible to do so as a regular? Will SAF cover part of the fees for me?
4) Is there back payment for my 2 years in ADA, if so, how is it calculated? And what sort of allowances are given i.e combat pay, ship allowance if there is any haha.
5) Is there anyone that can give me a run through of a typical day or shift routine (if information is deemed too sensitive of whatsoever, pls pm me. Thanks)
