I had a medical appointment today at the sports medical centre in CGH, referral by a polyclinic's General Practitioner.
I presented by 11b after the consultation and was not charged for anything. However the nurse told me that either I won't be charged for anything, or they will deduct from my pay. Anybody knows how the claims system works?
My friend had a similar problem too before, he had gone to see a doctor to get a letter for his foot problem. Initially he didnt have to pay a single cent, thinking that he was covered by his 11b. However when the next month's payslip came in, he discovered that his pay was deducted.
He then proceeded to call PCS and they informed him that "first time consultations are not covered" and that was why his pay was deducted.
Can anybody maybe shine some light on the issue please? thank you :)
From my own personal experience:
Chances are that your friend went to the non-subsidized(a.k.a Private) clinic of the hospital for his first consultation. That might have been considered as a private consultation and therefore not valid for full/any subsidy, especially if he did it without a referal letter from a camp mo or another doctor.
Most CSC(civil service card) holders including NSFs will be refered to the subsidized clinic of the hospital if they intend to make use of the subsidy.

You will be classified as a subsidised patient if your first visit is via:
The rule is still the same.
After government subsidies, the remaining charges u can bill to Mindef with ur 11b.
