Hi everyone,
I'm currently serving my NS and I'm thinking of signing on with the ADF for a short term contract of 5 years? Anyone out there wanna share their experience in the ADF?
Apart from that, I hope someone can answer the following questions. There are some burning questions I have on signing on in the SAF. Thanks for reading. I look forward to all the reply.
1) Is it possible to change vocation if I were to sign on (especially for short term contact)? Let say I'm a Medic but I'm interested to sign on as a Admin Spec, is it possible?
2) What is the criteria for signing on? Is PES BP will be considered?
That's all for now. I hope I could get a reply. Thanks.
sign on adf as men or spec?
Anything's possible there...survive the trainee phase first...
still got ADF nowadays? thought they not doing very well as planned? my fren got out of it already... got his money then run lo.....
SexyChin - I guess as a Spec. Care to eloborate on the difference, signing as men or spec?
Hellraiza - So it is possible that I become a Admin Spec?
Thanks for all the reply thus far.

Not sure if you're ready for a lifetime military career?
Take up a 5-year contract and enjoy the perks of this contract scheme as an ADF (Army Developmental Force) Specialist/ ADF Combat Medic or a 5-year contract as an ADF Rifleman, Driver, Supply Assistant, Combat Engineer – a sign-on bounty of up to $10,500 and an end of service gratuity of at least $8,000. And if you do well, you may be offered the chance to join the Premium Plan before you complete your contract.
well, ask yourself WHY would you wanna be a admin spec in such a place?
EDIT: rephrase myself. Do you want to be a combatant or a admin spec?
Sign on waste time one lah boy.

post here again asking what to do after 5 years in service
How can 5 years be short-term??
eh r u in the right mind? ADF is known for their garangness leh... admin spec is nt as slack as u tink ok...
There's no such thing as a clerk in ADF, I bet.
My friend once mentioned to me that a WO from the ADF came down to his camp to give a recruitment talk...only the enlisted ranks were made to attend it.
I do not have the full details but here are the parts that I can remember from him:
1)PES A/B(They only mentioned riflemen vocation)
2)TOE:About 5 years or so
3)Highest rank achievable in contract: LCP(Lance Corporal)
4)Pay will peak at about $1.2K,got a small sign on bounty bonus..plus a few other study incentives I think.VERY different from PP or Savers plan.
Note that the above points are for the "men" contract only.I think it is aimed more towards those with below diploma certs. These points are sketchy so please take it with a grain of salt and confirm it with an ARC rep.

If signed on with ADF as specialist, what is the highest rank can obtain?

I'm sorry but I have no idea and neither does my friend.
Like what he told me,only the men went for the talk and only a few actually stayed back to ask the WO questions.
My guess would be depending on the type of contract..
If you go for the full PP,then should be able to advance up to WO group, provided you get to PP2 too.
If short term, then maybe up to 1SG as I have come across several 1SG PS from tekong who said they were on short term contract. Not too sure as to why they end up in tekong instead of ADF but I guess that they were posted there when nearing the end of their contract after having served in the ADF for some time.

it's called the Rifleman contract scheme
Thanks eac!
To the TS,you might want to look at the link below. It is some info on the payscale from a guy serving in the ADF as a rifleman.
I feel that it's best for you to sign on at other departments instead of the ADF.
I've been kept in touch with the ADFees (because of same formation), and people do AWOL because they can't take the constant trainings. Think of it, constant chiong sua for 5 years, and you wont get to rank up so easily.
how about signing on as a DXO
