warrant officer can convert to officer....
you mean if is warrent can convert back to officer? 2LT?
never see 2WO convert to 2LT before...
got see MWO/SWO convert to captain/major before...

2WO / 1WO can convert to 2LT / LTA, by going thru OCS by joining along with the rest of the young OCS cadets.

In a way to put it, it's a "hanging carrot" death trap for those who have NOT really experience the real NS life... and pls, NCC in secondary school is NOT counted, since u wear green for only once a week, not for 2 whole years.
Hanging carrot = give u monthly allowance during your poly course, then suffer and possibly regret later when u r in NS serving the 2 years NSF + 3 years Bond contract = 5 years minimum term of engagment.
As usual, the reply by us the old timers reservists is, just wait till u experience the NS life 1st hand b4 signing on the dotted line. Don't rush.
okay thanks,2 more years.
is there officer for poly programme?

the 3 years short term officer contract is only offered while u r in BMT (qualifying for OCS 1st) or as already as an OCS cadet.
no. dont wait. life is too short for you to keep waiting and stuff. With the allowances you can earn now, you can possibly buy and invest on more stuff. While your friends are still taking mrt, you already have your own car and home who knows.

combat regular working experience is NOT equal to civilian working experience.
so if u work in the private sector after the contract finished, u will be treated as fresh graduate without working experience.

I was once like you very siao on about signing on..i cleared my soc, ippt, field camp n stuffs, had good appraisal from my PC n platoon mates. Everything was on track till something happened that totally change my perspective of signing on. It was then i put NO to command school on the OTAS sheet. Commanders at bmtc always say commanders lead a easy life, and men will have to chiong sua everyday. I afraid that is not the case, ask around and you will find the answer why is it so.
Never sign just for the money, know the difference between Freedom vs Regimentation. Unless you are a sibei zai scholar from any JC that is eligible for SAFOS otherwise don't bother. I met a lot of regulars in my current unit , officers ,specs and WOs (MAJ,1WO,MSG and etc)..most of them regretted signing on because they don't like the job at all, but they had no choice but to continue coz their family needs them...
sorry for my lengthy post, just a 2cent from a NSF serving as a men in sungei gedong.
Life here as a men isn't too bad.

Besides the 3 yr officer contract scheme, there are also many poly officers under SAVER scheme (up to 45 yr old).
The 3 yr scheme for officer is not only for poly, A level also can take the 3 yr scheme.

From what I know, the 3 yr officer scheme is not meant to be extended. it IS intentionally structured to be this way and structured to end after 3 yrs with no offer of SAVER.all the officers I know on the 3 yr scheme was not offered a renewal. It was not even part of the discussion to begin with.
I did ask a diploma holder regular on SAVER who the hell would want to take up the 3 yr scheme then, he said those that the SAF think is not good enough to be SAVER, SAF will offer them the 3 yr contract scheme.
from what i understand, serve 2 day regular equal to 1 day NS. so the guys on 3 yr contract, they still have to complete NS obligation?
