what are the army stuffs that u usually keep after ORD for u guys? Basically i haven done any 'spring cleaning' to my army stuffs since i ORD-ed. What are the things that NEED to be kept(i know uniforms, webbings, full pack, helmet, combat boots, need it for ICT la), other than these what else NEED to keep one?(not sure for parade boots and beret)
What are the stuffs that u all usually throw away one?
Anything that's your PE, keep. Keep your beret and parade boots, might come in handy.
I would throw the water bottle away.......buy new one for the next in camp......
oh okay..thxs for input.

although water bottle might be considered PE. but still yeah i agree with tarutaru...cos dunno what bateria germs might be building up inside the bottle in absence of use.
Water bottle isn't counted of course.. that's not a controlled item. Heh.
Depending on your unit, you might get your LBVs soon in ICT anyway..
oh yeah....do they require us to have the 'items inside full pack' during ICT(haven went for one)

as a rule of thumb, those stuff that can be bought at emarts / army retail shops, u may choose to give away/ donate/ throw away.
if u get recalled back for ICT/ Mobilisations, be prepared to buy those stuff back.

But please note i was a old green duffle bag era.
Green duffle bag can fit 2 army rations boxes (the carton boxes army rations was packaged in).
Before you start, line your duffle bag with SAF’s trash bag (the thick transparent one).
Then fill up 2 ration boxes with your loose items that do not fit into the standard 7 pack items. e.g your remainder 3() sets of Number 4, mess mug, water bottles, nicely packed SBO, and spares you may need during your ICT. ( why 3 sets because 1 in 7 pack item, and 1 outsde to wear to report to your ICT, so 3 sets left)
Put this 2 boxes at the bottom of your duffle bag, but tape them up to seal them.
on top of your boxes, put your field pack (with 7 pack items) and boots, and the topmost will be your helmet. Inside the helmet, put a Thirsty hippo upright.
Before closing the duffle bag, cover the first liner with a 2nd SAF trash bag inverted.
On top of the second trash bag, type out a list of items that you DID NOT include in the duffle bag BUT NEED to buy when you are called for ICT. these are things with expiry dates or other reasons (beret/headdress you wear to report, batteries, lighter, slippers/shoes you still want to wear during in CV times)
After all these is done, close up your duffle bag, LOCK it up or seal it with tape. This is to guard against your brother or some maid opening up your duffle bag to take things out with your knowledge.
BUT PLEASE NOTE, WASH and DRY totally ALL items. Any damp or dirty items, is going to grow mushroom. leave your water bottles open in the box.
Replace your thirsty hippo say.. once every 4-6 months.
nowadays, almost all ICT have been standardising. depending on unit, CO may order all personnel to change to the black duffle bag.
even for overseas ICT, need to use emart credits to buy the black duffle bag, because now, the unit will print a standard paper to paste on the sides of the "kit bag" black duffle bag for freight to the exercise training area. now no more paint the underside of the ali baba duffle bag with white paint and use marker write particulars already.

I hope the quality of the Black Duffle Bag has improved. When the Black duffle bag was first issued June 1 2004, we oversaw the issuance. End of day, I have half a platoon with either snapped buckles, torn fabric or damaged zippers. More irritatingly, ST Log said it was enlistee's rough handling, CSM said it was enlistee's rough handling. OC said not his problem go ask CSM. Enlistee REFUSED to use credit to replace. so for almost 2-3 months, they were using torn duffle bags. Until a few things happened, a) COMD BMTC saw recruits "hugging" duffle bag to prevent things from falling. b) Some recruits parents who work in the Civil Service wrote inter-department emails, protesting the lack of attention to kit replacement. c) S4 finally spent some time to ask us to write a report of all damaged kit bag. There was supposedly an "improved" second batch, but the same problem still exists.
Its just the inevitable result of the emphasis on low cost for PE equipment-- which was fine when we were using the simpler old style SBO Webbing and small field pack. All these issues start cropping up when we switch to newer stuff which requires higher quality materials and yet the SAF is not willing to pay for it, hence the cheap made-in-China-crap-that-falls-apart-at-the-slightest-chance that we get.
looking at this thread, i checked my SAF equipment last night... i think there is a colony of unknown life form forming up on my SBO...Guess have to wear my cousin's LBV for ICT..sucks man...
oh...by the time i return for ICT(dunno when but probably next yr) do they require us to emart purchase this LBV?
just now when i almost want to pack my stuff for
tue ICT
the unit people call me
ok u medical excuse
tom dun report to camp
