I just got my BMTC posting yesterday.
I am posted to 4 SIR as a rifleman.
I seriously don't know why I am posted there.
I know failed my IPPT and SOC. But I have a diploma from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
Why am I not posted to somewhere like signals instead? A lot of my platoon mates who failed ippt and soc were posted to signals.
You are consider fit for infantry.. Good luck to your AIT... Anyway u will be receiving $550 for PTE instead of $500 for signal... the only disadvantage is a little siong...
okay what...ur CPL pay will be higher than service specialists
i not saying that diploma is big f***.. and my gpa is quite above average (about 3.85)
but i thought that rifleman was for those with a lower education level??

Whatever or whenever happens .......
take NS in a positive light......
see the positive aspects of NS and the ppl around you.......
seize this as the golden opp for you to reflect on your future path n inspiration .....
most importantly, use this chance to cultivate yr physical, emotion, mental and spiritual self.........
Hello, there are LCPs who are like SMU undergrads now ...
Even rilfeman are generally less educated, some of them display a sense of maturity and leadership that surpasses some stupid NSF scholars ...
most probably you will be in support company, unless you are damn sway.
most battalions use poly/a level guys for support company.
stuff happen's... i passed my soc, ippt silver, marksman, never report sick in bmt, they also never post me to be rifleman, but post me to combat engineer.
my friend fail everything, pass range, post to guards.
i still wonder why til today...
to put it bluntly,
wats the big fucking deal of 3.85 GPA? With just two posts, i can already gauge what type of attitude you displayed during your BMT..and im not surprised, NOW, that you are posted as a rifleman?
so many of uni mates then were riflemen, clerk, storemen and RPs...3 years with them, i didnt even hear them bitch about their vocation...

i heard from a lot of people that the rifleman vocation is for people with lower education level. i am not looking down on them, whatsoever..
but now that you have mentioned that your uni mates were rifleman, i can conclude that whatever i heard about rifleman is only for lower educated people, is not true.

dude..be happy dude
things happen for a reason...enjoy ur remaning months...
at least u get to go overseas...
I'm really glad you made it to 4SIR, congrats
Originally posted by Stucktoes:Factors regarding posting are never fixed. Unless you expressed interest to go OCS, have A lvls and pass IPPT then you just have a HIGH chance of going to OCS only. Other postings and vocations got no fixed factors.
My coy got alot of people fail IPPT, all those who failed got posted to Sispec. Some nerdy guy got posted to armour. One guy in my platoon who reported sick the most and completed only about 60% of BMT got posted to a relaxed vocation in the navy (learn to sail boats, drive ship, everyday learn swimming and do the standard bmt stuffs).
Then one guy in my coy whose mum keep calling up my OC for every small things (the son's field pack spoil la etc) and never even go for field camp at all got posted to rifleman. Heck he was selected for the music and drama coy interview.
Then my coy best recruit who got silver in ippt and the highest score for SOC and who want to go OCS badly got posted to OCT. The police's version of OCS.
my combat engineer mates (all corporal) in my platoon has 10 a level dudes, 2 of which got ippt gold, 3 got silver, 2 pass.
than got 5 3SG with a level come along, 2 silver, 2 pass, 1 fail.
so nope, a level doesn't mean more chance. pass your ippt, or get gold also no diff. but if you are damn exceptional, you will go ocs (all platoon /company best will go , right?)
where's freedom fighter when we need him.
i seriously think postings has gotta more to do with ur iq test done during ur med checkup more then anything..

If I may be honest, doesn't matter where you are and what you do. If you want something bad enough, you'll get it at any cost

yea.. i read about the statue with the red eyes.. :(
what is the support company all about?
Poly diploma, GPA 3.85, so what? Too good to be a rifleman?
If you say that your diploma does not make you big f***, then why even bother telling us your GPA?
A friend of mine was an A Level dude.... and he became a rifleman in 5 SIR. Went on to NUS after that.
Just do your work, make the best out of your experience, and ORD in peace.
