this case outcome more or less can be referred to some court cases for hiding blanks/bullets at home, there were cases where the provost were tip-off and search warrant the guy's home a few years ago. it was reported in the news. u guys may want to google for it.
but the sentence should not be as serious as the outcome of that dave teo. -

i must say guys like these are fools.
u go to NS, just serve 2 farking years and fark off.....be a good boy in army, and when you ORD and wanna be a bad boy, then it's not a problem.
like i say, you really CANNOT afford to play with SAF because u've no chance of winning.
trying to beat the SAF is like trying to regime-change PAP. possible? NO.
from my experience, there used to be a guy who *accidentally* lose 1 single bullet during guard duty in my camp (SAF Ammo Base) and he already kenna 7 extras by CO.....
and now we have this fool who steals these stuff and bring them out of camp......i don't think he'll get 7 extras....i'm sure he'll get charged and sent to a couple of weeks to DB.
worse still, if military court charge him + civilian court charge him, good luck.
as for Dave Teo.....i dunno what to say. Even Buddha, Allah, the Jade Emperor, God + Jesus + entire army of angels........all cannot save him now.

Investigations ongoing in case of NS man who left camp with pyrotechnics
SINGAPORE : The 18—year—old youth caught carrying military drill pyrotechnics or thunderflashes outside the army camp may face a charge of "dishonest misappropriation of Singapore Armed Forces property".
Under the SAF Act, this carries a penalty of up to 7 years in jail.
Police arrested the full—time National Service man at Boat Quay while conducting anti—crime rounds in the early hours of National Day.
When ignited, thunderflashes mimic battlefield blasts, and can cause injuries if exploded near a person.
It is not known how the youth had smuggled the thunderflashes out of camp and what he planned to do with them.
The police and Ministry of Defence are investigating the incident. — CNA /ls

yeah, our CO quite good.....but then, it's not really the guy's fault as he's only careless.
if, however, they find the live round in his bag or jeans, then it will be different story.
i think got one army story of a guy who dis-assembled the M16 into different small parts and smuggled them a bit by bit outta camp each day and re-assemble them at home.
anyway, SAF Ammo Base is a very stressful place to be at, especially if your vocation is Ammo Storeman and in charge of ammo / bomb / explosive / missle storehouses.
for every single small mistake you do (either 1 - 2 small ammo accounting mistake or paperwork not processed properly etc.), you get at least 1 extra.
so, last time, our camp everyday got people sign at least 1 extra due to these.

being careless is a fault! it's a live round we are talking about. got to be extra careful. losing it is as good as finding it in the bag or jeans to me. ur CO is just too nice. if it's my CO i think might just get charged..lol

you sign extra because of mistake, then during extra you make somemore mistakes.. in the end the whole NS is like all extras?

Think that is because in the end - they found the missing live round - thus = not lost - but misplaced. If a real live round is missing - it is out of the CO power - the investigation is done my the MP- special investigation team. And Mindef will map out the punishment. -

That is a bloody idiot - to steal military drill pyrotechnics or thunderflashes, you know these can be dangerous !!! - yep he may have been having them in his pockets to show off - actually if it when off in his pants - we would have a case of deep fried 2 fish ball & one goreng pisang that is if he is lucky..
