I think that you're just "suay" man... I pop-ed the same time as you but got the interview just a week later before my posting came out. Apparently I passed both the compass test and later the interview... All I had to do was to pass the medical(Somehow I think you guys are all talking about the same major who interviewed you lol)... Anyway... Just cheer up yeah? Shit really happens... I underwent a MRI scan the next day after the interview which showed a torn meniscus which required surgery so I'm already downpes-ed permanently without hope of becoming a pilot lol... Otherwise I'd have been like my friend who crossed over to OCS from BSLC to be a pilot... Just enjoy your NS life man:D cheers!
Originally posted by weetweet:Hey.. your case sounds just like mine. Couldn't help replying to your thread.. I was in the exact same shoes as you. had a background with syfc, got my wings. Did quite well for my compass test (according to an insider), thought of signing on as pilot.
But BMT was quite a disappointment. i saw how political and corrupted the system was, the wayang-ness and how they graded the recruits. Wasn't what i'd imagine it to be.. Anyway, i didn't qualify for ocs, went to sispec instead. And, got the same rejection letter.
Appealed and they granted me an interview, which i eventually didn't make it past. was really dejected and disappointed then.. but now after 2yrs in the army. That was the best God-damned thing that ever happened.
now, im on my way to further my studies overseas. I have my freedom, and choice to do whatever I want. Not to be sourgrapes or anything, I still love flying and i plan to renew and un-restrict my PPL overseas. But some things, when it's not meant for you, just let it go.
There's a higher calling for you in future. forget about the wayang rsaf commercials. life inside is nothing like what you see on TV.
i'm in that same shit too. i applied for pilot before enlistment, passed everything before enlistment. and i was told to work hard and get into OCS. however, i didn't qualify and i received a phone call and sms. no letter though. i really wanna be an rsaf pilot. weetweet...how to maneuver my way to get another chance? wad can i do?? pls help me, anyone? i was told by recruitment to hope i get into sispec and be the top few and crossover...like WTF. i noe its freaking almost impossible to crossover. were u one of the top few people in bslc?
If recruitment told you that's the only way in,then there's pretty much nothing else you can do at this point in time.I have seen a few jokers even going to the extent of wanting to seek help from their MPs but I highly recommend against it.
For now, just hope that you can get into SISPEC first. If you do manage to get in,then do the best that you can during BSLC and earn a crossover. That IS your chance!
Have you tried asking your PC or OC as to what could be the reason that you did not qualify for OCS?IPPT cannot get pass/silver?SOC cannot clear or meet timing?Peer appraisal sibeh jialat?
Those questions are not to discourage you but to help prepare you for the huge effort that you need to make in SISPEC should you get in.

well, i'm not hated or sarbo king. ippt i only got a pass. soc didn't do cuz i was on attend c due to high fever. i tink its becuz my field camp screwed up. my IFC quite jialat. haha! im a horrible soldier. shoot all these can. go outfield...i can't think properly liao. den kena f-ed. and i believe my commanders don't think highly of me cuz i'm not pro-active.hmm...although the recruitment told me this...another recruitment personnel told me tt even if i go unit i juz need to meet the "requirement", then they will ask my OC for a recommendation before they pull me out.
so i'm really confused now. who is right?! sighs. like hello, u dun judge a person based on SOLDIERING. am i right? like how many successful people out there were once just "man". and if u put an officer in the working world...u think they will excel? army and cv world super different. in cv world, u nid wits only and not physical. wad i lack is physical. as in i'm not the strong kind who can run here and there and still feel like i haf breathe. the reason why i screwed up field camp cuz i was constantly trying to catch my breathe. HOW TO WAYANG like that?! by the time i'm done running about...i'm so shag, i just sit 1 corner with my friends.

Sounds like the NS officer who took your detail for SIT test did not really think too well of you.
You mean that recruitment told you that even if you go unit as a men(never go sispec),you still get to go to OCS if your unit OC approves?I highly doubt that will be the case as it would be unfair to those who qualified for OCS during their BMT or SISPEC.
You got to understand this, every guy who puts on the uniform is first and foremost a rifleman soldier no matter the vocation. If you get shot down behind enemy lines, you got to rely on your rifleman infantry skills to survive.
If people judge each other based on soldiering skills only, then that is retarded. But in this case, you are applying for a job in the armed forces so soldiering skills is a very important part.If a person cannot get his basics right, what's more about a multi million dollar jet fighter?Of course, that is too general a view but they have to be kiasu as those planes are bought with public taxpayers' money.
If requirements for OCS are waived or lowered for a particular group, you will soon see people up lorry and asking why OUTSTANDING pes e or c clerks cannot become commisioned as admin officers?

Hey bro,don't give up yet!
You still mght get posted to SISPEC.You wanted a chance right? There's your chance, don't waste it!
Try your best but just be mentally prepared that you might not get the result you want.
Even if you don't become a fighter pilot,it does not make you any worse off than those who do.As you pointed out, there is a great difference between cv and army, not all of us are cut out to be soldiers,I'm definitely not one of them(I'm obese).Vice versa, not all soldiers even if they are officers are cut out to be CEOs or unfallible leaders.

thanks dude. there's more to life than a broken lifelong dream. there's more to life...although plans have to change, so be it. thanks man.
