HI, I'm enlisting in a few months time and would like to know, will it be very disadvantageous if one does not know how to swim? I can swim but cannot tread water, which means I am as good as a non-swimmer since I cannot stay afloat. Will that compromisemy ability to get into SISPEC or OCS? Also, will BMT be more difficult because one can't swim?
BMT requirement is only 50m in breast stroke if you can swim that then it's okay.
May I know if any other aspects of BMT requires swimming? E.g. field camps or missions etc? Or you will only swim once in the entire duration of BMT?

yar just swim the damn 50m and you will be relaxing when your buddies goes for swimming lessons.. don't need to tread water..
if you want to become PTI, you must be damn good at swimming.
Anyway you do not even need to know how to swim to get thru army. I could not swim for nuts during the entire duration of my NS, am in combat vocation even if so.Just that any dangerous water exercise, you have to put white tape on your helmet........
haha, my treading is very bad.. i only learn freestyle, don't know how to do breaststroke..
