Please tell your OC to let you do admin jobs instead of chiong sua.
Yaya, SAF can survive with only combat fit soldiers...tell that to your CC or DXOs sitting in the offices or combat fit regulars being paid lump sum of taxpayers' money to do both admin jobs.
They're clerks too.

Ask your dxo's whether they would rather choose to be in the office doing admin jobs or in the jungle digging trenches should give you the answer. I don't say SAF can survive with only combat fit soldiers, but if everyone is combat fit they will be even happier. The reason why there're clerks is because not everyone is combat fit and they've to create a appointment for you if not it will be unfair if uncombat fit personnels won't even need to serve NS. And stop all those jokes bout clerks being so important to NS because who will handle the leaves, G50 etc.. A combat fit solider can do it also if he is given the chance too but the country needs him for more important roles. you guys are only there to support the combat fit soliders and help in the paperwork which exists in every organization. but it is not something that only you guys can do please don't overrate yourself. The face of the SAF are the soliders and not you guys. period.
The whole point bout the SAF is National Defence which means soldiers. You will understand the important of clerks in a wartime. You think you still have paperwork to do and do clearances for leaves? They will probably throw you a rifle and ask you to guard the camp or something while the combat fit personnels go to fight the war. This has nothing to do with malingering or not, i understand that not everyone can be combat fit but i think you guys probably suffer the shame of being a clerk because of those people. I make myself clear, the post of a clerk is not shameful but don't make yourself sound indispensable like what some of the posts here sound.

I'm not trying to make clerks like myself sound indispensable, but making a point that combat and service has to go hand in hand for things to work....

tell that to the regulars who draw huge salaries but still depend on those nsfs to get things done for them.
face it, combat depends on support for weapons and food and other stuff. support depends on combat for protection and peace of mind.
i think that the recognition for clerks is not as good as those combat soldiers. maybe MSD who is monitoring this thread right now can voice it out to the relevant authorities to make everyone who serves NS be filled with pride and not with the chao keng mentality.

I think most of nsfs (combat or support) have the chao keng mentality workwise....
Like you only give 70% of your effort everyday to do your work instead of 100%.
btw Roy there's is a way to get stay out. Prove that there's something really wrong with your back, unless SAF can provide you with the special mattress for your back or else u have to sleep at home.....but why wrong with staying in unless u stay very near to come. NS only 2 years only what, by the time you know it you are going to ORD soon.

Oh forgotten about that...ya, something wrong with back will get the personnel stay out.
Well, I wish to breathe the fresh air of the outside world after a day in camp and not breathe and go back to camp at night. And not wanting to book in on sunday nights...
But yeah, NS only 2 years.....have to suck thumb....

talk to your oc la. see whether he can arrange anything for u anot.

I don't think clerks should be forced to stay in UNLESS there is a mission/exercise going on in the camp.
Some of you people might be thinking clerks where got stay in one, but the fact is that there are and you're talking to one.
Well, I see no reason where clerks should not stay in unless they had special reasons not to...
Anyway, everyone else is staying in... Unless unit like cmpb where there is simply no reasons for clerks that are off duty to stay in lor...

Regarding booking in on sunday nite.....u be PR a bit to your RSM and Chief Clerk...maybe they can grant you booking in on monday morning...
But seriously I would rather book in on sunday night, the morning traffic can be quite a pain in the ass
got one guy in my camp also muscular and fit but he's a clerk. i wonder why

my 1.74m of muscle friend is fitter than his pes A superiors but he has a serious eye problem. another friend of mine played intense sports in school but he has genuine stomach problems. unfortunately most people choose to relate overall body fitness to COMBAT FITNESS. i dont think you want an infantry who cant even see what he is shooting.

Just a question does cmpb house combat soldiers?

My Chief Clerk heck care about these matters one, lol.
It's another WO officer who is in charge and I don't want to talk to him....
Well, over here the morning traffic is not that bad so I can get to camp quite fast.

Similar over here. But my colleague is due to mental problem.

Once in the army, you would compare and look at the surface only.
Got one guy who is short in my camp but he is combat fit but my colleagues can't believe he is a fighting soldier.
That friend of you who played intense sports, is he a clerk too?
There is this mindset in SAF, when you're a pes e clerk = you can't do sports or anything that would risk hurting you like we're some fragile items.
