dont know leh. the medal is a round gold coin. can wear on my uniform. worthless medal. they say at end of ten years they will give u a watch thank u for your contributions to NS.
booking out is a privilege and not an entitlement. that's what my encik keep telling us and we all know it's true also.
im a formation hq clerk in the past and even though i used to complain my camp is so far from my home that i rather stay in, after 1-2 months, i find that being able to book out is much better even though the travelling sucks.
at least if i go home, i can slp on my own bed, use the computer and do my personal stuff. as for those who keng, all i can say is that they have no integrity and dont take pride and responsibility in themselves and whatever they do. most of the time, they will not go far in life.
as for clerks staying in, i do agree a small handful of them have to stay in to make sure there is someone who can response to any immediate problems, eg. company clerks, BN clerks. but that doesn't mean all of them have to stay in.

Some of you people might be thinking clerks where got stay in one, but the fact is that there are and you're talking to one.
U are just looking for someone who will agree with U...and I am not that someone.
I am also a clerk. I have out-field, stay-in and reservice. All the jackpots hit, whoo hoo. But so? Even if I whine about it, nothing changes. I have ezcema and staying-in makes my condition worse, but still, I tahan the suffering in the hope that I am able to gain a higher level of tolerance towards future ezcema-inducting allergens. Sometimes, you mustn't think of things in the negative way or think that just cause you are a clerk, you can choose not to stay in.
In fact, staying in allows you to form a stronger bonds with your colleages and this makes your future work a lot more easier. Remember, should Singapore be involved in a war, you probably ain't the first one to die anyway. So, always think of the bright side and move forwards through life.

If that's the case, why don't you put on the LBV, helmet and spend the rest of your NS life lugging the field pack and the rifle?Don't come here and seek sympathy, if that many people can suck thumb and take it on their chin... Then stop whining..
Heard of C9L9 soldiers combing the forest? I bet you didn't.. Now have a cuppa of stfu..
Seek sympathy? Did I go ''oh no, I'm staying in and I hate NS''.......or did you imagine it up?
I asked for opinions and of course I already expected people like you to appear and personally attack me.
Heard of C9L9 soldiers combing the forest? Yes, I did... assuming that I didn't means something happened to your brains cause it's big news.

Ya lah, ya lah. Clerks big fark.......
Anyway I didn't start this topic to argue with other people....

Yes, booking out is a privilege and not an entitlement.
We do have an ops room with a officer and clerk to deal with immediate problems, but yeah I agree because sometime the clerk might not know everything.
Anyway I'm already sucking thumb liao....staying alone in the bunk, just looking forward for two night off every week.

Yes, staying in allows me to form a stronger bonds with my colleages but the thing is that these colleages not from my branch....so there isn't much bond between me and my immediate colleages who even keng one or have real problems.
i heard that in south korea, you have to stay in for 2 years...not sure though.
Originally posted by FirePig:i heard that in south korea, you have to stay in for 2 years...not sure though.
You mean their clerks too?
Same as our combat unit clerks loh.
NO. They are not allowed to go home for 2 years.
Originally posted by FirePig:NO. They are not allowed to go home for 2 years.
Oh, I forgotten they're still technically at war with North Korea so need to be on high alert everyday. I think that should be the reason....
But I don't think they die die cannot go home one lah.
TS, r u in hq side? if not the probability of staying in is quite high.
artiwizoras: wah respect u, in fact i also looking forward to my ICT. i have the same mentality as u.
for south korea, im not sure. but i heard from my maid who's from indonesia. her husband got enlisted and couldnt go home for 2 years at all.
i don't know why there are all these petty complaints in this site. about Hairs, about staying in; about punishment, about discipline over discipline.
Remember the SAF store guy in Taiwan that was kill in a plane crash.
Remember operation iraqi freedom, jessica lynn was in support unit they made the wrong turn and were attack her colleague were all killed.
just because you are in support vocation doesn't mean you are not going to see action.
This is especially true for Sg, think about it u r either going to fight oversea or fight in SG. If the unit is oversea, it will needs all level of support.
If u find yourself fighting in SG you think there is a frontline ?
Yea sure...! You should be totally staying out...! Yea sure... You sounded so positive I doubt you feel sour at all...!
Who are you kidding?
chill detachee. how r u
This is such a banal complaint.

Nope, I'm not from hq side.
Just that this was implemented as a punishement for my seniors that what made me start this topic.
If this was implemented because clerks in combat units have to stay in, then I will keep quiet.
But the reason of this was given as punishement metered out....

I feel like support personnels are the most looked down upon and least appreciated.
So what if I get to see action? Most of the glory goes to combatants. How many times have you seen a support personnel in SAF advertisments as compared to a combatant holding a gun?
The whole mentality of combat "beats" support in SAF is obivious.
But yes, I know there are combatants who appreciate support personnels for handling all the paperworks so that they do not have to.
WTF?!
stay in also kp nb cb! wtf is wrong with staying in? will die issit? clerk means jitao 8-5 issit? fucking chao keng mentality
when war time how? 5pm u tell u OC sir i go back home issit? knn _|_ u understand
