satu: it's normally 7 high 3 low...but if ur lucky ya u will get what u stated in ya qns.Originally posted by devonise:Hi. Some doubts to be cleared.
1) Does anyone noe how many high keys and low keys we got to serve b4 we are completely out of the army? Is it 6 high keys and 4 low keys?
2) If we were being recalled for reservists to attend trainings or courses which is more than 10 days, does it consider as a high key or only ICT is considered high key?
3) If within a year we have abt 2 call ups, one high key ict and low key training(less than a week), is that consider one high key and one low key served?
Someone who is clear of all these pls clear my doubts. Thank you!
any trainging more than 7days=high key, any training less than 7 days low key....Originally posted by devonise:kengkia: thank you for ur reply...but for the 2nd part, wad if we went for a reservist, let's say 2 weeks courses for those refreshment trainings....not outfield ICT... does tat consider as a high key?
I'd like to add : any combination within the workyear. ICT > 7 days is high key. You can go for 2 days' briefing, 3 days training and 3 days outfield. That's 8 days = hi-key. Remedial IPPT not included.Originally posted by kengkia:any trainging more than 7days=high key, any training less than 7 days low key....
Yes. Course is considered high key as well.Originally posted by devonise:Kool: yah i understand..but what if there's no outfield at all? once i was called up for reservists for bionix maintenance course which is a month. i wonder is tat considered as a high key?
OIC... thanks alot.Originally posted by Phaze:Yes. Course is considered high key as well.
You can be called up for a maximum of 40 days in one work year. So in theory, they can call you up for a 30 day course, and call you up for 10 day ICT in one work year.
However, I've never seen them do this unless you volunteer. If you go for course, usually they won't call you for ICT.
As the other poster said, high key is computed by number of days. As long as you serve more than 7 days in one work year, that's a high key.
I think this is not the case. I remember during NDP, more than 15 weekends burn but still consider low-key.Originally posted by KoolKool:I'd like to add : any combination within the workyear. I agree with you. I was being called up every year ever since i ord. My employer (a Japanese) was obviously not please as it is not just a week but 4 weeks. But he said no choice since it's the law, he got to follow.Originally posted by specfore:Depends on the type of unit and vocation.
My reservist unit had 3 to 4 call-ups per work year. But they split into 3 to 6 days duration each. All of them involved field exercises.
Basically one of our COs told us to forget counting high and low keys. Focus on the number of years instead !
My employer was not pleased. To them it was disruptive. The employer does not mind if the guy goes away for 20 days for one single period each year. Easier to plan.
Under the new system, NSmen need to do a minimum of 7H3L. If you are not an appointment holders like CSM, Coy 2IC, OC, normally they will not disturb you anymore once you hit the min requirement to phase into MR.Originally posted by devonise:If like wad your CO said, focus on the number of years, den it will be damn unfair for those like me who already clocked say 4 high keys and 3 low keys with another 2 high keys coming soon. Even if i managed to clock 7 high keys and 3 low keys b4 30 yrs old, does it means i will still be called up until when i reach 40 yrs? If so den i will try deferring the next time i received called up since no matter hw many high keys or low keys u clocked, u will still received call ups.

Take note that if you do not hit the 7H3L, you cannot phase into MR and you will need to take your IPPT annually (unless IPPT is chicken feet to you). My unit did well in ATEC 2 and the CO decided to change the last high key ICT to a low key ICT.
My advise is to finish off early and FO from SAF.
I think this is not the case. I remember during NDP, more than 15 weekends burn but still consider low-key.Parades don't count towards the reservist cycle at all. I know, cuz I went through it in 1992 (9 consecutive weekends burnt, for the bladdy big-scale Military Tattoo on SAF Day).
