I did the latter during my extra half year of NS, although it was quite tiring for the first 3 months (follow their timetable, & no nights off). But, with the off-in-lieus you can tally up, along with the accumulated entitled leave, you can probably go on block sabbatial for the last 3-4 weeks (& paid the $2k along the way too). Little chance of them calling you back to do COS or guard commander either, once the new-batch NCOs are posted in & hence available for the shifts.

Dang.... I was in the last batch to kena 2 1/2 years.
If early ORD = wait a long time to enter uni, I might as well just tahan a bit longer and get the extra pay.
After all, my experience was that my last few months were totally lobo after my unit went for ATEC.
