Question On NS

1. Is there a specific specs which they only allow? eg the thick plastic kind. can i just make a normal spec?
2. Must it be black?
3. Can my specs be frameless?
4. Can wear contacts?
Frameless can right.. i dont think anyone is gonna punch me and break them. -
Simple... non shiny frame. Best is plastic lens...
Cos during bmt need a lot of rough work... your specs would most probably drop during some of the pt or field exercise.
So, cheap plastic spects is recommended.

strongly advise to wear the black framed specs during bmt. the bands r applicable only for the close combat training, ippt, soc...etc.
tekong 99.9% all guys... no need to be vain...
and if ur frameless spec broke, and need to fork out money to repair or replace... ur fault, ur problem... -

you really think the frameless specs will break? mines some special lens that is unbreakable. -
Most of the companies in Tekong do not allow frameless specs...
Even if they recommend black specs, and everyone go and make 1.... Then you become the only person with frameless... Haha, then you will most likely kena arrow liao... Too high profile...
There are so many instances where your specs might break. IPPT sit up station you remove your specs.... it just take 1 bugger to step on it and u r gone... SOC jumping off the low ramp or balancing beam and you got your rifle hitting your face... BCCT instructors will scold you upside down for frameless specs... Field camp night turnout and you cant find your specs when you woke up.
I still recommend you getting a black specs, it will come useful throughout your NS period. .. -

they should have some optician come in on the 1st day of enlistment n get all the speckies to have their degree measured....
then they go back n make black specs n come back a few days later to issue to all the specky recruits...
n perhaps sponsored by SAF or a percentage subsidized by SAF...

I understand that most people don't wish to spend so much on a new spec...but can always make a extra pair for NS. Seriously I would advice against the rimless type as the frame break easily. During my times, there is no standing order against any spec. As long as it's not to ex....my one for BMT is a black metal frame, I used it because it a very old one after my medic course threw that away out of shape.

trust me, i nearly lost my eye wearing a frameless to camp. Get a plastic frame, especially for physical activities. kenna destroyed by insect repellant also wun be so heart pain.

Just get the black plastic frame glasses. They will serve you well.
A tip: keep your spectacle cloth in ziplock bag when you go for outfield and field camp. Bring extra if necessary. -

hoho aloof same as me ah, my one also frameless(only around the lens frameless), but i only going to wear that when i bookout or something. Go out must look better la. My lens also unbreakable, unless you use hammer or diamond on it la, but frame break how u use? Just buy 2 lens poke hole use rubber band to tie them together and around your head la. PLus chop guarantee dun need to take out one. haha.

I go for range in contact lens, you will have to run and spec cause condensations and drop also, can't aim well with that, other times like SOC, IPPT, marching, eating, wear plastic spec will do. best is cheap one because who knows when it will be lost or break.
