Even Traffic Police bows to the 1960s speed limit of 50kph and adjusted to 60kph or 70kph
vans now can travel up to 70kph on expressway as well -

someone wrote in to ST before, the official reply from MINDEF was for additional safety as determined by MINDEF.
the 5-tons are electronically limited to 60km/h...the others are restricted by this stupid SPD or SVD thing....which varies between vehicles...some vehicles start beeping at 40km/h... -
I swear the speed limits of SAF GP cars/vans will cause an accident indirectly one day.

Many of the ppl who determines the safety speed could well be speeding abv the legal limit on their own cars -

the expressway is defintely not a place for green horns and the 50 limit limits smooth traffic flow when even heavy vehicles limit is 60kph -

few years ago....two 5-tons and a Land Rover were on convoy from somewhere in CCk to Pasir Laba...
the two 5-tons decided to race on the three-lane stretch of KJE....only to realise that they have speed limiters at 60km/h....so neither could overtake each other, nor can they slow down because cars are honking them behind....
To make matters worse, the Land Rover went to join in the fun and all three lanes were choked..... all cars honking at them at 10pm.
Haha....then they super suay....an armoured unit's RSM happen to be in his car behind the convoy....high beam them....overtake them and tap his brake light to signal a halt for the whole convoy.....then someone said "hey the guy in the caris in number 4"....siao liao !
hahaa.....the RSM whack the commissioned officers who were Vehicle Commanders' on the 3 vehicles and inform their units...all kena informal punishment, write report...etc. -

Dun say 5 tonners, all heavy vehicles like SBS buses are mandatory to have speed limiters limting vehicle speed to 60kph
Vans would have buzzer, abv 65 or 70kph would inform you abt abv the legal limit le but you can still travel to 90kph -
that's why SAF indent commercial buses now.

dunno abt the officers...I think driver kena extra.
the officers not the instigator...they just allow it to happen when the drivers were playful...so they kena from the RSM.
