I am pretty sure the airforce and the navy did their part, except that it was kept more low key. The mobilisation of large numbers of army people probably attracted the news reports more, which is probably part of the plan, since if any first strike were to be made, it certainly wouldn't be the army doing it.Originally posted by SpecOps87:... We have E2C Hawkeyes, the best air force in the region, so why aren't they up there getting ready to splash those fat and heavy laden transport aircraft the moment they try to pull some stunt?

SAF is truely the best in the region and NS will turn you into a man, into a fighting soldier
FOR KINGAND COUNTRY!!!
thing is,not all people share you view that we should die for our fellow singaporeans. i say that with much confidence because if war does come, i think many will flee this country.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Well, it doesn't make him less of a man to post such stuff. A soldier's role is to fight and not think. That's the commander's role. The only thinking a soldier has to do is as someone mentioned, how to complete the mission objectives.
Besides, his little part about fighting for the government in power I do not agree with that. Though I may not like the government in power, I will be willing to fight and die for my fellow Singaporeans. Its all about professionalism, fighting for what's yours.
The little part about mobilizing during a airdrop during National Day, that is crazy. I say that magic button should have been pushed and every fella that's forming the line be armed with double the usual load of live ammo. Not many would flee I think.. can't afford to flee..Originally posted by sir sickolot II:thing is,not all people share you view that we should die for our fellow singaporeans. i say that with much confidence because if war does come, i think many will flee this country.
in any case, we were in a precarious political situation then.. and to use our rsaf to bomb the crap out of their transport aircraft would not solve issues, in fact, it will create issues. Singapore had to do it tactfully, yet show we may be small but we do pack a nasty sting when provoked. and i think E2Cs are not equipped with any weaponary?
I beg to differ. I don't care to scold my employees, in fact why should I lose my temper over incompetencies. I give a warning, then another with my HR, and the next time, he is fired. In the SAF, you may get all the scoldings, be put off for promotion, but you don't lose your job overnight.Originally posted by SBS3625D:And if you kena a lot of scoldings and politics, nothing will scare you in the working world later.
